I think as long as u tap into illumination wire on cargo lamp switch it will dim, but it will still be way brighter than the other switches unless u do something to knock the light down some by diffusing it/ block it some

I can confirm that is not accurate. I also tried connecting ground to tan like someone said and doesnt work. I decided dimming isnt needed for me.

    I just figured it out....
ch4x4 switches, 3 of them wired where the "cubby" goes.
I have a 2018 access cab, so the cargo light harness is there, but not a cargo switch.
green wire from the harness, I wired to and "add a fuse" under the dash.
black wire from the harness, I wired to the tan wire on the cargo light harness.
(I had this ground wire hooked up to the footwell ground)
red 1 wire on the harness, I wired to go through the firewall to the relay.
red 2 wire on the harness, I wired to the green wire on the cargo harness.
my switches light up when the interior panel switches light up.
no power to any lights when the truck is off.
switches I added are dimmed with the regular knob to dim all the other dash lights.
no pics, because I don't know how to load pics.
    no links because..just because.
    lol

How did you tap into the cargo light green wire for Red 2?

Back from the dead. Does anyone know the reason there's a connector between the switch and the relay on the mictuning harness? Why add a connector? Isnt this just another point of possible failure?

Another link that helps to understand switch wiring...

Also, I don't recall whose idea it was and I haven't been able to find it with the search but if you take the switch apart, and put a small piece of paper and color it with a dark Sharpie, then place that darkened piece of paper around the LED, it knocks down the brightness to something pretty comparable to the brightness of the stock switches.

Was this in response to my question? Or to the thread in general?

This is exactly what I’m looking for as I’m researching on setting up my ditch lights w oem switch from CaliRaised. Trying to comprehend all this is confusing me. Is there a YouTube video out? I’m unable to find one.

    thanks
