An extremely SMALL percentage of Tacoma owners actually belong to these forums. And they all like to whine about their trucks. I love mine and am extremely pleased with my purchase!!!!

I wouldn't worry about what you read about on here....I read all the same stuff about the 2nd gen back it 2005 and had 2 2nd gens over 12 years with no problems over 200,000 miles. Enjoy your truck! :mudding:

It's like going to the doctor and sitting in the waiting room. You start talking to people and find out most of the people in the waiting room are sick. Wow...must be something "going around".

Well duh, it's a doctor's office. That's where people go when they're sick. But in reality, it's a tiny percentage of the total population. But while you're sitting there, seems like everyone is sick.

That's what this place is like...a doctor's office. 2 types of people come here....enthusiasts and those who have problems. Only takes a few people to make a lot of noise on a forum.

Now having said that. Are there people who have problems? Sure. Some are real, some are perceived and some are just unrealistic expectations (that's a whole different thread).

There are some legit recurring problems in the 3rd gen and I’ve had my share. Some people just bitch too much. I love my truck and would buy it again without hesitation.

Most of the critics on this site are just pissed because Toyota didn't call them to get their opinion before marketing their generation of Taco.

It's a fun group, and some of the mods are actually fun to do: ShiftSense Pro, LED light replacements, D-rings, tires, speaker upgrades. That's my list. Not that I've done them all.

    Depends on your interests.

Me, I mostly enjoy watching these guys obsess over the details. Confirms just how good we have it.

Funny you should mention that, guess what I got in the mail the other day? A post card asking if I would like to "help us develop an all-new truck!" "Your feedback will help influence the design of the next generation of these vehicles." Tacoma that is. I was part of the study to design the 2004 Harley Sportster, they ended up making it lower, longer and heavier, the complete opposite of what I wanted! Probably the same thing would happen with the Taco, longer, wider, heavier and more sissified!

I honestly almost didnt buy my truck after finding this site. Once I was able to take a step back and realize there are like 10 people on here pissing and moaning and the majority of the other like their trucks I went a head and bought my truck.

Over 19K miles on in in the first year and no issues. Are there some things I wish were different? Yes. but overall its a great truck.

If you go to other websites there is just as much complaining. We cross shopped the F150 and there are people pissing and moaning on the F150 boards as well lol

I've had mine for a year and a half and love it. Enjoy the truck and don't read to deep into some of the complaints on the forum. These are good and reliable trucks.

Great, now you can tell them all the things that grate you about your Tacoma.

Let's help Goldstar34. List the most annoying thing (just one thing) about Tacoma that you would change if Toyota gave a damn about what you think.

    I'll go first. Relentless upshifting.

    S-Mode prevents that.

On the Tacoma I found that the shift was not positioned ergonomically. I had to lean over to go through the gears. Poor ergonomics, I think.

Everything on the dash or the console (including the shifter) should be reachable without leaning forward.

S mode is a gear limiter, you don't want it to shift up to 5 or 6 all the time you put it in S4. The owners manual page I posted specifically says S mode "prevents unnecessary upshifting".

I have a little dial on the lower dash that does that. But I understand, it's so much more fun to push and pull it into gear.

Lever prevents relying on an electronic solenoid to work.
