Curious if anyone has 100k on their 3rd gen yet? If so I would like to know all that has been done to the truck during those miles. Brakes, warranty issues, etc.

I should hit 100K in a few months, i'm at 82k right now. surprisingly enough all i have done is the 10k services at the dealer.

Are you still on your original front brake pads?

Impressive. I would have thought the front pads would have been worn by 60k or so.

knock on wood... but i never had a single warranty claim and that seems to be the norm for most people. Its been as dependable as i could have hoped, and i drive the shit out of it. debating on what to do when i hit the 100k mark.... trade it in or keep it forever. :burnrubber:

    I wouldn't be surprised. My Camry didn't need a repair till 200K.

I'm not. That many miles would need a ton of highway miles. My gen 2 pads went 80k with normal driving

My 1st Gen pads lasted 100K. I am the original owner since '02, with not one warranty claim/issue.

In July 2016 i had 8k miles, by july 2017 i had 50k miles, on the 10th of this month i hit 80k and since ive put another 2k on. It is my daily driver and adventure rig, i work 3 days a week so i travel a lot on my off-time. When i take a trip i rack up the miles but still hit some traffic. Some weeks i would do 1,000+ miles, others 100. I am just happy it has been good to me. The front brakes are just now slightly beginning to squeak.

I am waiting to see this also, although i have seen a couple people trash their 3rd gen motors with "bad air filters" as toyota claims, but my guess would be the ones with experimental tunes and whatnot will be the first to go.... but what do i know.

With 23 months down and less than 8000 miles I figure I should hit 100,000 miles in 2041. I hope nothing goes wrong.

I’m curious if the brakes are making that “slapping” sound when you press on the brakes? All 2nd Gen’s I once owned did that towards the end of the pads’ life.

Like when they move front/back when braking? Not that I’ve ever heard. Just slightly squeaking at low speeds.

No, the sound came when the pads were pressed onto the rotor. Only they weren’t pressed, more like slapped onto the rotors. They were particularly loud in parking structures. Maybe it’s an OR thing. I won’t know for sure till these pads fade.

Not at 100k yet, but getting close. Had my oil changed two weeks ago they said brakes are just over 1/2 life, and only warranty issues was right rear wheel bearing at 30k, but Toyota took care of it no questions asked. All in all I love the truck.

Pads ride on the rotor constantly and dont leave the surface but drum brakes pull the shoes off of the drum and come back togetherduring braking. Maybe that is what you heard? If so a adjustment to bring them a touch outward would probably clear some of that up .

I’m not sure as the sound seemed to come from the front. It only made that sound when the front pads were basically ready to swap for a new set. New set would get rid of that sound. Drum brake adjustments never made a difference. I’m hoping the SR5 doesn’t make that sound. That shit was annoying.
