Plug change today. Pretty typical. I had a feeling they might still be the stock plugs but they were autolites on both sides. Look like they’ve been in there a while. They all had 1.4mm to 1.8mm gap. Gapped the new ones to 1.0mm.

My thoughts exactly. But that was the first thing they offered at Orielys yesterday. I went with NGK iridium.

Well, I've been driving the snot out of the taco and Im at 317,000. Still running perfect but I was going down an FM highway and hit a damn deer. Luckily it was a small doe but it still did its damage. Insurance is just writing me a check so its time for some mods.
The list is a diy weld together bumper from either move or Northwest trail
replace fender, remove flares maybe, Cragar Soft 8 wheels and goodyear duratracs. Ive worn the wildpeaks out(30,000 miles) Way to soft for what i do with this truck so I gotta go back to an LT 10 ply.

The biggest change is i think I'm going to plastidip the whole thing. Maybe flat white or anthracite OR a crazy orange. I love the orange tacos but I'm not sure i can get the same color. Thoughts? I have a tan interior. I also thought about going tan because its dirty pretty well 90 percent of the time.

I’d look into getting it wrapped instead of the plastidip.
I recently put a set of E rated Cooper AT3 LT’s on my 07. I’m loving them so far, but I’ve only put about 1,000 miles on them. Cooper has a $70 rebate though the 31st I think.
They do throw rocks pretty bad, but that should improve some as they wear down a little.

Looks like I’ll be doing front wheel bearings while I’m at it. Which ones does everyone here like?

Get @BamaToy1997 to hook you up.
You can get custom bearings/hubs from him, he repacks with high quality grease and presses the hub/bearing together himself.

You can get a Dorman from Rockauto pretty cheap, but I doubt they’ll last as long as Bama’s. B5763E07-D52C-4387-A4D7-FC8F30B16608.jpg

Well as life goes I’m going to need a bigger truck and can’t keep this one sooooo I’m thinking of selling. I’m thinking around $12,500. What do you guys thinks.

Wheel bearing 10,000 miles ago, totally rebuilt driveshaft about 12,000 miles 265/75 duractracs with lots of life, billies with stock spring at the highest setting, ome Dakar’s in the back. The rest is pretty much stock 348,000 miles.

Thanks for the reply @scottalot. A lot has changed since my last post and I can’t bring myself to get rid of the Tacoma. I took a job that affords me a company truck now too so the yota is going to be a play toy now.
    The plan is
FN 5 star in bronze 16”
    285’s
    UCA’s
    Projector headlights
    CMC, pinch weld etc.
    remove flares
Then as time goes on stereo upgrade, camper shell or rack. I haven’t decided. I’m not a huge fan of the shells but for a camping/trail style rig they sure help hold all the stuff. Maybe RTT later on. Rear steel bumper, possibly high clearance just because I like the look. One piece drive shaft. Basically a general use trail/camping rig. No major wheeling or rock crawling.

but as for today, I took the swaybar off because the bushings were shot and I find this buildup. I was pretty proud of the fact that this truck didn’t have any leaks. Nothing that ever hit the ground anyway. What could the culprit be? Timing cover?

    thanks guys.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated with the truck. Really nice to see it have such a long life. And survived the deer.

Thanks man. I'm continually amazed at this little truck. Runs awesome, rides good and does everything as it should. I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere. Earlier this week I went down to Pecos TX, 5 hrs one way, with a trailer. Picked up my welder, 1500 lbs, along with about another 500ish lbs of tools and pulled it back to Amarillo with no problems at all. I think it'll make a fun weekend toy for my daughter and me. Mostly for me though.

    Love seeing threads like this.

My 2 second gens have just over 100k on each. 87 has close to 300k on it and I am hoping for the same kind of lifespan out of the Tacomas.
At this rate the trucks might outlive me.

I'm 62 yo, bought my truck 5 years ago hoping it would be my last vehicle purchase. So far I'm at 143k with no major issues other than routine PM and the FWB's. I like reading posts like these high mileage, gives me hope that my truck has a long way to go20210312_120210.jpg
