Does anyone know if there's recommended preventive maintenance for power windows? After seeing the sticky, dried up grease on my door handle linkage I got to thinking about how my window motors seem to be working really hard whenever I use them.

 

from what the mechanic told me Toyota doesn't make the ujoints for the double cardan. ive heard rockford might but I haven't found any conclusions or post that have instructions and examples

 

You can grease the arm track and the window track, it helps a bit as the seals get dry.

 

Would it fit under the 3rd brake light?

 

I considered mounting the camera on the license plate but the view will be blocked when i have my bike rack on. I repurposed one of the 2 OEM license plate light bulb covers. I had some extras.

 

I tried mocking it up there but its too big to fit in the space under the brake light.

 

What about next to the handle for the tail gate

 

well it's spring loaded, push it all the way down and see if it touches the contacts all the way depressed

If i mount the camera only with no base plate i can drill to the left or right of the handle and flush mount it there. Only prob there is the angle of the handle faces up to the sky slightly. I wont see down behind my bumper.

I wish I had more time to work on my truck.... I work like 65 hours a week and then all weekend I'm either with the girlfriend or helping my parents get our yard ready for my brothers grad party. I am begging for free time at this point lol

 

Cut a rubber bushing at a angle so when you mount the camrea it points down and the rubber will help seal the hole

 

I have too much free time at this point, lol. When the weather is a little better I’ll start getting some work done.

I’m going to treasure the sleeping in until 12 everyday, because pretty soon I’m not going to have it.
