1 click below the headlight should turn on your parking lights (front side ambers and tails) but not turn signals

Done today in about 2-3 hours. Taking my time and taking a few water breaks in the TN heat.

My biggest tip if you aren't too electrical savy is to use solder connecters that solder and heat wrap at the same time. Like this:



Light output is so far so good. Won't know until tonight but against a closes garage door I couldn't tell a difference. Also didn't have to adjust because it was only a few mm off my pencil marks on the garage door.

 

I love those connectors. I put a new engine in my FJ40 using only those for all connections. They are awesome.

I saw those soldier connectors the other day on Amazon & heard good things there also. Probably throw those in with my next order to have em!

 

Wish I knew about those. Would have cut the work in half. With some heavy solder its a bear squeezing those shrink wraps over the joints. Oh well all done now. Learn something new every day.

 

For those of you who put the Hakari LED in, any issues? I am thinking of purchasing some and putting them in while the headlights are are out. Worth it?

 

I have had them in high and low a couple of months. No issues with performance however you need to modify the passenger high beam bulb. It is roughly 35 degrees off of 3:00 and 9:00. See my following picture if interested. You have to drill a new 2 mm hole in the collar to correct it. For those that don't want the hassle then the new XenonDepot bulbs are just as good. They have an adjustable collar. They have a 20% off sale making them roughly the same price as Hikari. The Hikari use a fan where the Xenon use the heat sink blades. If you don't mind drilling a hole then remove the 2 screws, slide off the collar, drill new hole (or 2) and assemble them

I have the Hikari's and didn't know about this. Is there a write up on the procedure??

Thanks for the heads up.. I don't use HB very often. Will soon be on a all night drive coming up in a few weeks tho. Will need the Squadron fogs and the Hikari will get a good workout as well.

Never saw those all in 1 solder connector with shrink wrap before. I'll have to check em out.

 

My picture pretty much tells you what you need to do. It is very simple. Just need a 7/64" or a 2 mm drill bit and drill the holes 6 mm or 1/4" away from the existing holes. Originally looked like pic 1. After fixing they orient correctly like pic 2

 

OK not sure tho - I just went out and took a few pics of my high beams. Both the passenger side AND the drivers side are angled and not perpendicular to the ground.

They both have the same degree off-set from vertical but the passenger side is opposite from driver side.

Looks to me like they are done that way on purpose??

FWIW the high beams are not as orient sensitive as the low beams. Most do not worry about the orientation. I am just anal that way.

 

Installed the tails today.

 

Looking good. With my headlights in, the taillights shouldn't be too bad I hope.
