2013 DC amp placement with vents under both seats?

Well today after installing my seat covers from the last group buy on here and messing around under the seats I noticed both my passenger side and drivers side have vents under each seat. I had planned initially to put my JL 900/5 under the drivers seat.

I am having Mr. Marv construct my boxes for 2 JL 10TW3's so I can use and keep the child hooks in the back. I checked the storage space below the rear seats and there's no enough room to mount the JL amp in there. I'd have to remove the plastic liner I think in order to get anything to fit. For crossovers there's plenty of room under there.

So for you guys putting amps under the front seats, how are you getting them to fit with the vents there? I thought about risers to just taking out the driver side foot vent and somehow or someway cap it off and put the amp under there. If I can keep it I'd like to keep it.

Just looking for ideas or suggestions. If worst comes to worst I guess I'll construct something to mount above the boxes and put the amp there.

 

Use thin MDF and mount the amps to that. Place on top of vent and secure with double sided carpet tape. Put all your cables on the opposite side of the vent.

 

That's exactly how I mounted my PDX amp when I had it. Use 1/4" MDF or 1/8" if you can find it, and some of the hook part of the industrial velcro. Guaranteed the amp won't move unless you want it to.

 

I never use the heater here in Az so I have the vent pointing right on the amp to keep it cool during the summer

 

My PDX is mounted directly in front of the vent...no MDF just industrial 3M hook and loop on the underside of the amp - no cuts in the factory carpet - wires come out where the factory harness comes out. It's been unusually cold here in the Mid Atlantic the past few months and even with the heat full blast I've yet to encounter any issues with heat at all. Now, most of my driving is 30 min commuting but I did take a 4 hour road trip this past weekend and with the system at full boogie for most of that trip the amp was happy to rock and roll without any heat issues at all. That's just my experience.

 

I planned to use spacers to hold up the back end of the amp to allow the vent to push air unbothered, but the amp was too high to put the seat back in position. The seat still hits the amp if you try to put it in the all the way forward position (luckily no one ever does that). I live in TX so like Aw9d, I do not use the heat very much.

 

Is it the seat hitting, or the cross bar? Their is a crossbar that you can flip if that is what's hitting.

 

It is a crossbar that hits the amp, but I have no idea how it could be flipped.

 

Do some searches. I haven't done it myself, but I have read a few who have.

Does anyone have the part number for the vent that goes under the drivers seat? I bought my tacoma used and it seems there was an amp there as wires are sticking up. The passenger seat has the vent.

 

It comes loose easily. Lift the carpet and see if it's under there somewhere

 

I've seen a video on YouTube of someone using a bracket that holds the amps to the bottom of the seats like so:Other than that ********* sells brackets that elevate the amps slightly and use the existing mounting holes for the seats but they cost fucking 70 bones per side before tax and shipping :/

 

Does anyone know they part number for the factory floor vent under the driver seat
