Interesting. Three of my coworkers who own 2016 TRD Sports or OR V6 Auto's experience what I've detailed. Two of those coworkers recently traded their trucks for something else partly because of their issues on the highway with mpg and cruise. I've also read many others here on TW complaining of the same. I suppose those of us coming from other vehicles that have integrated cruise more efficiently must notice this more than others.

I barely use the cruise in my 2016 SR5. The truck constantly wants to shift down to 5th gear when it doesn't need too cus of my 265s.

I use cruise on mine as often as I can, works great.

How does cruise work in the top gear when you reach a hill in a MT?

With the 4.30 rear gears it does fine.

Holy smokes! I use mine all the time, commuting to work and back, 83 miles a day, cruise set at 70mph 2k rpm, and I can get up to 27.9mpg

Works the same as the dozens of other cars I’ve driven.

3 of your coworkers had the same issue?

    Sorry I smell bullshit.

Sorry to burst your fart bubble but nothing smells here. It is known that cruise on these trucks sucks ass. It is also known these trucks struggle with shifting at highway speeds.

My SIL liked the radar in his. Hated the mpg when my daughter moved 6hrs away for grad school. Good news is I got his AT3's and aftermarket wheels for an even swap for my stock crap Firestones and just ok stock wheels when he traded off. He didn't like his mpg's on his 2016 OR. I get it, young love and all. The second piece of good news he ended up my SIL. And of course, our daughter graduated with honors and a bunch of letters behind her name. Cruise control still sucks tho! :)

Well, I think I'm gonna go for it. I found a place that will install factory add-ons for the cruise, wipers and keyless entry for $600..

OEM Keyless entry kit online is $140, and you can do it in about 15 minutes. Someone just posted a how to for it.

I have yet to see one in person. I’ve seen the rare complaint about shifting but even rarer on cruise control. These anomalies are are certainly unicorns. The fact that 3 of your coworkers have the same issue as you, defys mathematical probability not to mention having that many coworkers with the same truck.

Classic case of exaggeration, but to be expected.

OP - I agree those options would be tough to live without. But hey, even with $600 additional cost, you are paying a lot less than my SR5 cost :) Enjoy

IF the truck had been pre-wired for cruise and wipers, the cost is cheaper and a DIY job. Just plug and play. But the way it is requires wiring to the ECM, don't think I want to go there.

What’s the point of keyless entry if you still have a keyed ignition?

Also, does it operate with the proximity opening or do you have to push a fob button?

My 2016 SR was pre-wired and I did both the same day and it took me about 25 minutes maybe (had to go back to the directions in regards to the clip that releases the wiper control assembly)... I don't think that the 2018's are any different.

As for the function of the cruise... so far works fine for me... really only use in 5th gear. I've only had the truck since the 15th of April, so I have not been to the mountains with it yet... I'll cross that hill when I get to it I guess.

As for the the keyless entry... it will require some bridge-taps, etc. I researched this a lot before deciding to pass on it. Anyway... this is supposedly the kit that Toyota uses for the convenience package on SRs...
