For anyone else with the Intermittent Radio Reboot:
Today my local dealership informed me that the Entune Bluetooth problems (intermittent radio reboot) are a known issue, and that they are “unfixable” if the current software update has not already fixed it for you (some people it’s working, it has actually made mine worse.) They stated that there is no timeline to remedy the problem. Glad they finally admitted they have no clue how to fix it after three years of trying to fix it on two different trucks and three separate radios.

I’m going to pursue a Lemon Law claim, I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Lemon Law for any problem that is unfixable and affects resale or enjoyment/utility of the vehicle.

Would you buy a used vehicle if every service invoice indicated there is a persistent, unfixable problem?

JFC...have them replace the head unit. "Unfixable problem" that no one else has.

Been through three head units on two separate vehicles, as the post states. Plenty of other people have the problem, which a quick forum search would tell you.

Literally the whole point of this post was to advise the other people having this same problem that Toyota has finally indicated it’s currently unfixable.

We listen to pandora by bluetooth any time we are in the truck. Never happened to us, not one single time. Does updating the software sometimes cause the problem?

Last time this was going on a year or so ago it required a firmware (not software) update. A lot of dealership employees don’t know the difference. Have you checked if there’s a new firmware version?

I’m on current firmware with brand new radio and it will still occur three or four times a day minimum. Toyota told me today that the firmware/software updates they pushed have fixed it for some people but not all. They stated that if the firmware/software update didn’t fix it there is no ETA for a fix.

This is something that started happening to me about 6 months ago. I haven't pursued it but I guess I will now.

I may have found a fix until they get a patch out. Take a look at your contact names. If there is anything other than a letter or number in it (i.e. special characters or emoji), delete those characters. Reset your radio, and reattach and re-sync your phone and contacts. I did this three days ago, and not a single reboot. (it was rebooting guaranteed once a trip)

I've never had any radio reboot issues but is anyone having issues with the nav after the 5/2418 update??

I put in a destination that I had been to a few times and it was showing two route lines on the map but the boxes where you used to be able to select were dark grey with no writing (quick...etc), so I couldn't select the correct one that was about 40 miles. Within 30 seconds it decided to go the 7 hour fire road route that was very possibly impassable and all the time I was droving the correct way it kept trying to get me to turn around.

Yesterday was 15k service and they updated firmware.(Did the same thing at 10K) That didn't fix the issue so im back today.

Ive got an iPhone 8Plus with iOS 11.4

My Entune head unit is restarting when I activate the microphone. once it goes through the reboot its fine for the rest of the drive and i can use the microphone.

That has to be a drag, I'm wondering if this is more of an iPhone thing or if its equal with androids too?

I went to the dealer last week and of course couldn't replicate the problem so they basically don't believe you. Also the route boxes were there so that didn't help my cause but it was still picking a 10 hour route to a destination that only should have been half that.

The updated the stereo sw to the latest version (....192 iirc?) and oddly even though I had updated it a few times via OTA it never showed in the update history.

I've noticed something weird on other Entune units. If you have your own cell number in your contacts it tries to call that number whenever you hook up to Bluetooth. Taking your own # out of your contacts (on an iPhone) seems to solve it.

I have not had that happen at all. I got the taco a year ago....I do have an old iphone (5s ios 10.3.3) nor on my android work phone.

I'm pretty sure that your own number has to be in there to connect to your voicemail.

I had the reboot issue with mine when ever I would try to call someone or use Siri (iPhone 8plus) while wearing my Apple Watch 3rd gen with cell service. If I turned my Apple Watch off I don’t have anymore issues.

Hello fellow Tacoma owners! I'm new here. Purchased my first Tacoma a couple months ago. I've got a new 2018 Off Road with the Premium package. Since day 1 with 5 miles on the truck, my Entune headset would reboot almost every time I drove the truck. I spoke with Toyota's national support center and following their instructions, downloaded the latest firmware onto a USB 2.0 flash drive and tried to update the software only to find that the version I'm on, 010192 is the latest version. I finally broke down and made a trip back to the dealership and was fortunate that the stereo rebooted when they inspected it. They tried it with my iPhone x, blamed the x, then tried it with the service tech's iphone 8, and another tech's Samsung. All 3 devices while connected to bluetooth audio and after attempting to initiate a phone call the headset would reboot. The tech tried to update the firmware, unsuccessfully and has recommended a complete replacement as a result. Going in next week for the replacement. If this doesn't fix the problem, I will likely be replacing the headset with a Pioneer MVH-2300NEX. This is an inexpensive option and even though not stock I think it would be better than the horror that has been this Entune system. I love my new truck otherwise.
