Is anyone else having this issue? I would connect my iPhone X with the Entune Premium receiver (TRD Pro model) and it would randomly kick the phone off and restart itself. Then, it would not connect until rebooted again. This has not happened as much, but is still happening and they have replaced the head/receiver unit to fix it.

Anyone else's doing this? I have seen older posts, but none recently. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix or Service bulletin? Thanks!

There is a software upgrade available, surprised that the dealer didn’t try that before replacing the head unit. There is a thread somewhere that describes how to do it yourself, took me about 10 minutes to do.

Thanks, Captqc. We did do the latest update before replacing the head unit. Unfortunately, it did not work. I think it may have something to do with the iPhone X and compatibility with the bluetooth. Toyota website does not even list it for compatibility. Def not what you'd expect from a leading mfg.

Did you have this problem before getting the iPhone X ?

When I got my 8 Plus I had to remove my old 6S Plus from the head unit and go to Bluetooth settings and forget this device on my 6S and then add my new phone.

    Oldman808,

I had a iPhone 7 that had this happen occasionally, but thought it would resolve. Once I got the iPhone X, it got worse. Hard to tell on the new phone, but I started from scratch once we replaced the original unit. Just hoping to see if anyone else had this issue or any TSP docs to help...

    Thanks for the reply.

Today my Entune Premium on my 2016 TRD Sport started rebooting. I first noticed after church it did not have the presets but then after I stopped and had lunch the next time I started up the truck I had nothing. It will play a cd but only a reboot on the screen.

    I have an iPhone 6s.

It think it has something to do with conflicts between the bluetooth and other sources (i.e phone calls) along with issues with Apple...they don't even have anything with an iPhone X on the support site. Let me know what you guys hear. Not wanting to replace the radio for a second time, but may have to go down that road...

have the same issue with entune getting completely confused and rebooting itself--usually when using Siri on my bluetooth-connected iPhone X. When I connect my iPhone X via USB/lightning, Siri doesn't crash entune.

That being said, sometimes Siri actually works...what triggers the reboot for me is tapping the keyboard icon to exit out of Siri on my phone.

I doubt it's a hardware issue that could be fixed by swapping radios...if the dealer lets you then go ahead but seems like a lot of trouble for what is really a software bug that needs to be fixed (probably on Toyota's end, not apple)...

can someone link the thread on how to update entune? is it just that thread that talks about going to entune, finding a USB 2.0 2 gb stick, and downloading/installing?

I gave up on entune, just use Bluetooth native. It was unstable on iPhone 5, 6 and X.

Put the truck in reverse to turn on the backup camera, then get somebody to send you a text message while the camera is on...I had an earlier 2017 Limited with all of the updates and it would reboot every time under these circumstances...This truck was totaled a couple of months ago and I have only had my replacement Limited a few weeks, not sure if this one does it or not...

Mine would reboot at random times when I had Bluetooth on and usb plugged in. Dealer said they would order new head unit. After taking 4 hours to change 1 window trim piece I gave up on them fixing anything else it’s a waste of my time.

My 2016 reboots and here is the weird part. It seems to do it every time I drive down a certain highway. The location in question is a little over 100 miles from where I live and I don’t go there often. But the last four times that I have driven that stretch of road the radio has rebooted. It’s an interstate highway and even stranger, it only does it when I am northbound. Did it again today. It always happens within about a two mile stretch.

There is an airport near the highway at that point which is a former air force base. I figure there are some kind of navigation beacons nearby. Or maybe some alien technology in an unmarked hangar.

I guess I did not properly explain my issue...mine actually never completes the boot up process. Mine is in a constant reboot state.

Want to stop your reboot problem? Delete the connection from the headunit. Then delete the connection from the phone. Now sync them again, but this time don't allow contacts.
I almost guarantee this will fix it.

edit - This won't fix the bootlooping head unit of Treker's. That sounds like a munged software/firmware or hardware failure.

This happens in my '17 OR and 7 plus. Happened twice this morning on my way to work actually. I noticed it only really happens when I am trying to call someone through the entune system aka the steering wheel pick-up button and selecting a contact. I have my 20,000 service this evening and will bring up the HU update and see if that resolves the issue.

'16 Tacoma with a JBL system and an iPhone 7 here and I get the random reboot myself...seems like the radio reboots twice and comes back online. And typically seems to occur when I'm using Siri a couple of times in a row but I don't think it's always. I did have the software updated by the dealership this past December as well.

Very frustrating but I guess all automotive radio tech is years behind actual tech.
