I have a 3" lift on my 4x4 OR DCSB. For the longest time, I thought my tires were rubbing but it was actually the VSC/traction control making a grinding noise as it does its thing. By holding the Trac-Off button, it fixes the problem for ascents. When descending though, it still sometimes slams on the brakes. This is really annoying and possibly dangerous. So it seems there is still some kind of VSC system active. Any suggestions? Recalibrate at the dealer?

That's not VSC that's ABS. You cannot disable it. And no, I have zero problems with it off road.

Are you saying the truck brakes on it's own going down the hill? Or are they just grabby?

When I'm braking on a descent while turning, the truck will sometimes make a grinding noise and the brakes lock up completely for a second causing a skid. Does that sound like ABS?

Yes. ABS works by locking and unlocking the wheels many times a second. What you hear is the control valves modulating.

Yes, you can pull the fuse to disable it, but unlike the poster above, your truck is 10 years newer and disabling ABS will disable a whole bunch of things. Normally off road I just press the VSC button and that's good enough for me. I am not stunt driving though...

You’re basically getting rid of the magic by pressing on the VSC button in 4Hl. That is TRAC working. Although I tend to believe there is ALSD action taking place too.
