How do I correct bad cv angles

Just installed the front end lift. Dakars go on tomorrow.
5100
887
1/2" top spacer driver side
1/4" passanger side
Spc ucas.
It hasnt settled yet and it hasnt gotten an alignment yet.
But these angles look atrocious.
The only thing I waited to torque once the wheels were on the ground were the lower alignment cams on LCA that I marked before hand. Should I have torqued the UCA after also. Im completely new but managed to get this done on my own so go easy on me.
And I need to drive it to work on friday.

Would a boot slide mod alleviate any issues if i get the fins spread out?

 

Front Diff drop? I think that’s the only thing that’ll correct the angles other than taking your top plate spacers out.

 

Are the boots tearing the only issue? Or would the inner tripod gear be affected with such bad angles

 

Your alignment and settling affect your cv angles. I would get it aligned and wait for it to settle before you consider anything else. I haven’t done it myself but the boot slide mod or aftermarket boots seem to be highly reccomended around the forums.

You sure everything is installed right? Those angles look really severe for what should be about a 3” lift. Here’s mine for reference with 5100/886.

 

Pretty sure ya. Unless i needed to torque the uca after it was cycled. I cycled the suspension then torqued the lca alignment cams. Everything else was done while hanging on jacks.
Took it for a spin, no vibes yet or binding/grinding sounds. Felt normal

 

New SPC’s don’t require to preload the suspension to torque.

 

So i did it correct. Its probably just because theyre 887 with top plate spacers. I guess ill drive with it like this for a bit and see if it gets better once it settles and the dakars get on there with an alignment.. unless its not recommended to drive with such bad angles

 

Are the Billys on the bottom notch?

 

You will be replacing cv axles every 6 months.

 

I’m on 5100 w/888 and SPC. Mine doesn’t even look close to that angle.

 

It will eat up your needle bearing. I did Diff drop, no problems with CV boots, or needle bearing. Like others said, something doesn't look right.

 

My lunchtime Diet Coke says something is assembled wrong.

And yes, any articulating assembly point needs to be torqued when the suspension is in compression, not full droop.

You can use the floor jack to gently lift one corner at a time and 'create' compression, assuming you don't have room to work when it's on the ground.

 

Hey bud, I think you should update Op to specify spacer sizes, like you did in the other thread. It might clear things up a bit to some people.
1/2" Driver Side spacer makes a hell of a difference .....

do you have pics of the clip for the height adjustment?

I recall another thread where someone had a similar issue and it was he installed a portion of the shock for the spring upside down causing it to lift a lot ore and throw the CV angle way out.

 

you say "with top plate spacers" more info on spacers please. usually only 1 small one on driver side for the lean

 

My bad your right it does. 1/2 spacer on driver side and 1/4 on passanger side i did this to try and get it level with dakars but i think i went over board cuz that passanger side doesnt look as bad and might get better once settled. Its a learning curve but im going to get rid of that 1/2" spacer and switch up the 1/4" one hopefully it looks better.

Joe I took them to ct motorsports cuz the first place that put them together left them real crooked up top but Ski straightened them out for me. I can see 3 rings above the perch so I believe theyre on the lowest setting. Should I take it to him to have my alignment done?

 

have you driven it around the block yet? when I lower my truck down to the ground off a floor jack it sits high till I drive it.
