I turned my seatbelt chime off on my previous 2009 Tacoma like this:

    1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
    2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
    3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
    4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Since they are both 2nd Gen - I'd give this a try

Worked fine on my 2018. The Carista website said that it would not work but it does. They are supposedly correcting the Carista website. Rest assured that it works on 3rd gens. I suspect that it works fine on 2nd gens too but someone who has done it should chime in just to be sure. Post 94 & 95 here shows screenshots of where I did it, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/turned-seatbelt-chime-off.553319/page-5

I can confirm the seatbelt chime can be turned off for the 2017 as I did mine.

This can be used for multiple vehicles, right?

As in, if I own a Tacoma and a 4Runner, I would only need 1.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
What else can this do other than diagnose and eliminate the chime?
