Swapped these into my new truck with 750 miles yesterday and FREAKING LOVE THEM. Those on the fence just do it! Ill have to order the speakers for the doors next.

I did the entire 6 speaker kicker swap over a year ago and they still rock as good as day 1. This is one of the most rewarding upgrades you will get for under $250.

Anyone who has done this notice any of their panels don’t fit the same. Slightly looser or out of place?

I didn’t wait that long. I swapped all 6 with 54 miles on it.

What size adapter do you get for the R1T-S? They say it's 2.13" and taco tunes has either 2.12" or 2.25". I also see 1.81" as a diameter, so I'm really confused as to what adapter to order.

Cut out size of 1.81 or 1.85 will work, that is the size you need when picking them on the tacotune site. I used the 1.85" cut out. The 2.13 measurement is for the top portion of the tweeter and is not what you want. You will need to use some hot glue to mount them to the adapter.

@SoCali_Guy I like the kicker ones I used in this install. In the first post, I link the ones I used. I like them because they sound awesome and they are plug and play.

Finally finished the install of Kickers all around last weekend. Door panel removal was almost identical to my G2 Taco. Piece of cake. Very pleased with the results.

Thank you for the kind words! The whole speaker install is very very easy to do so I would recommend it to anyone seeking a little bit more than the tweeters offered alone.

has anyone gone from the Kicker upgrade to the OEM Audio +?

the Kicker mod sounds great, but i need more volume. the radio's still 45 - 50 (55 w/ windows down), also i've lost some bass response in the door speakers (stock Neodymium magnets don't actually suck that much).

edit: i've sound deadened the doors already and done the full 6 speaker Kicker upgrade.

You could consider adding the Kicker Key amp, as well. That's what I'm planning to do to mine.

I also did the 6 Kicker mod and am interested in an amp now as well, for the same reasons @killthehippies mentioned. Anyone here have direct experience with the Kicker KEY180.4? How do you like it?

I would really...REALLY suggest people look at the Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers for this very reason.

They seem to be a better match for the OEM headunit power output and they're actually cheaper than the Kicker/Subaru mod.

I've lost no volume or midbass at all, I rarely need to get the volume out of the 30s.

    $115 gets you:

6 3/4 for the rear door, tweeters for the dash....

    6x9 for the front doors...

Too late now for many of us. I've got no real problem with the Kickers, and they sound great as-is, but I *would* like a little more oomph. Dropping an additional $200 on the system for an amp doesn't seem unreasonable.

@Deacon Blues so your saying just install these 2 sets of speakers (plug and play?) is no amp needed?
