Why would you need to do this. They already come with air bags. :D

I installed Total Caos bed stiffeners and relocated the Amp Research bed extender brackets so I could still use the bed extender.

Thanks to @nazlax10 for his write-up.

I had it simple since I already had the bed extender installed and each bed stiffener only covered one of the three holes I had drilled for the bed extender bracket. So I just drilled through each bed stiffener once and did not have to use the amp reasearch template because I simply drilled from the hole inside the tail light assembly area.

From my mounting location I used three 1" long washers, two 3/4" long washers, and one 1/2" long washer, per bracket. I also decided to put some flat washers up against the bedside, inside of the tail light assembly area before tightening the nylon nuts.

I was skeptical that the brackets would hold tight, but I can grab them and shake the whole truck...so I guess they're strong enough.

You had me staring at your green truck there for a second. The reflection on the side fooled me. The green color, which was once available for a short period, is my favorite color for the Tacoma.

    Nice truck.

Check the towing and trailering threads. That is where people discuss airbags. I think most use Firestone. That is what I expect to do if I end up with a travel trailer. I say "if" because my wife is leaving Saturday to look at condos in Florida for 8 days or so. She has a list of 100 properties. A trailer may not be in my plans after she returns from this trip.

Air bags are a great addition if one would need to be able to adjust the bed height or level out while camping. My cousin has air bags and he’s trying to talk me into it as well. I can see how they would be nice to have especially with towing.

I was just being a smart ass, referring to the air bags that deploy during an accident. I realize the air bags for suspension can be beneficial. Another good option is Sumo Springs, which I opted for. Less maintenance and more durable. https://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Suspension/SuperSprings/SSR-610-40.html

Yup spacers are the culprit. I have spydertrax spacers and 285/70/17 on TRD Pro wheels .

I set my caster to +3 when I went to 4wheel parts for an alignment right after installing the lift. That essentially moved the wheels forward. But still, be ready to do a lot of fender cutting and melting, massaging of the pinch weld, and CMCing to get rid of the rubbing, since you went with 285 tires.

    It's all worth it though!
