I am looking for that off road look. and trying to install a roll bar in the bed of my 08 double cab with short bed. I would also like to put some KC lights on it but dont know where to look for the bar or how to install it or the lights. If anyone has some advice on where to look what kind, lights and installation proceedures. It would be helpful. Thanks!

What your talking about would not be a roll bar but a glorified light bar. No actual protection from a roll without doing some serious modding to your truck and the bar itself.

The problem you have with most pre-made, or multi piece kit is that they are just for looks, and you will notice in searches they are usually called "sport bars". The only way you will get a true protective roll bar is to find a good welding/fabrication shop. You will have to cut holes in the bed and have bar directly mounted to frame. If you just want the look, then do a search for light bars, or as mentioned sport bars. Usually versus a bar can be mounted on the sheetmetal bed by making plates larger than the base supplied with the bar to spread the load over a larger area, but the Tacoma's bed is not sheetmetal, but I guess you could do the same and see how it goes.

It seems every South/Central american, Euro and Pacific Rim portion of the world offer those as option on most every make of truck, but not much in the US anymore except for truly funcional types in Jeeps, old FJ's and other similar, smaller 4WD sport utes. I guess in the US everyone is so lawsuit happy, that they sue when the sportbar crumples in a rollover.

AFE Drop-in filter, Wet Okole seat covers, Hifonics 6.5" components in front, MA Audio midbasses in rear, Kicker 8", RE Audio 2 channel for components, Elemental Designs bridged 2-channel for sub, CB, Devil Horns, Rancho QuickLift, Rancho RS9000XL rear shocks, Toytec AAL, stickers, things and stuff.
Check my gallery. I got one from a '95 and the only issue I've run into is that apparently the '95 Tacomas' wheel wells were tilted slightly inward, so it doesn't mount flush. If I flip the left downtube with the right, it might aleviate the problem, but I haven't gotten around to testing it. That is one of my plans I'm saving for when I quit my job.

If you can find one on Craigslist or in your local classifieds, ask the seller if they would mind you coming by to test-fit it and you can go from there to determine the cost vs effort vs reward ratio. The only reason I mention looking for a used one, is because no company makes a decent looking light bar for the 05+ Tacoma.

All of this is only my two cents, of course.

I checked some of the other threads and looked around the net. I cant find anything anywhere. I am wondering if trick trucks could get hold of one. I don't care if it doesnt protect me in a roll over. I want the lights on top. I just love that look.

You could get one custom made but it'll cost BIG BUCKS to do it. Just visit a hotrod shop or specialty 4WD fab shop....they could bend tubing and custom weld a rollbar to your exact specifications.

    Airsoft warrier?
My husband just started doing that. I'll probably get out there one of these days and give it a try..... I'm more tempted to pelt the rabbits in my backyard with it.:D

Off to wash and wax my truck. The neighbor mowed his lawn and kicked some dust up onto my beautiful paint!

I sensed that someone was longing for my presence. Imagine how bummed I was to see it was only you!

Hehehe, I finally found one. Shadowfalkin helped me get it fabricated right and I should have it mounted soon.
