I'd go with whatever produces the least amount of back pressure.

Your truck shows an abbreviated wind dam which splits the TRD Skid plate. I've never seen this before. Was it an accessory you added?

I didn't know what to expect going from a 3/4 ton truck to this... but honestly, other than the purr of a Cummins I haven't missed it. Well, that and not pulling up to the green handled pumps, lol. Sure rides smoother.

Pretty cool. So I guess you just to a dremel or some such to it. Something to consider for my 2018 sport which the dam came off to accommodate the TRD skid plate I installed. Any details on how you did this because it looks factory clean.

Can you explain to this n00b why you put the bed stiffeners in?

I still have mine attached to the I-beam in my garage. Been debating doing something with it but I just love the aggressive look without it. Maybe after I relocate my spare tire bracket I will layout the dam and play with it. Maybe. Should do something with it because it really has no sale value and is not helping the drag on my I-beam.

If you have any significant weight on your bed rails (cap, bed rack, etc.) the bed rails can spread. Especially if you do any off roading. The stiffeners hold the bed rails in place to keep them from spreading.

    a few...
I want my Tacoma to prevent bed flex especially since I have a Leer cap on the bed and like to play in the mtns. Just alittle extra piece of mind insurance as I plan on keeping the truck for awhile.

Here’s some more TW reading about them:

I went through the hassle to pick one up from a guy while on a road trip. Then ordered the hardware to attach as he forgot the back of the screws. Had that thing on for like 48-72 hours before I went over a little dead plant at the farm backing up a trailer and ripped that sucker out. Broke a few tabs so if I want it back on it’ll take some drilling.

I then realized it just takes seconds and I don’t need it that bad.

Thanks for that. I might just give that a go. Did you use a band saw or cut by hand?
