2016 had a different key for the tailgate.

I think that 2017+ unified the key cut so the key from the fob will manually lock and unlock the tailgate. Mine had the OEM (I think it is still a pop-n-lock) electric lock installed at the port. I did also receive an "old style", meaning not part of the fob, that fits the door and tailgate when I bought my truck. It lives on a ring with my spare hitch pin key.

Not sure about the '17s and '18s but the '16s had a separate key that only unlocked the tailgate.

Definitely nose high. Give it a try and report back.

Also, can you be more specific about the difference between stock suspension and 5100s?

This is my opinion and others may have different.. The stock Bilstein was nice for what it was, however I felt every bump big or small and there seemed to be a lot of body roll on turns and corners.

The 5100's offer a smoother ride and there is definitely less body roll felt. I've had six people in the Tacoma since the install and they said the same thing "wow you def don't feel as much" so it is a noticeable change.

It's not jacked up, lifted high etc.. But it's a great ride, I could go higher if I wanted to.. But first I'm going to upgrade the tires to 265/75/16 and hope for another half inch and see how I like it.

I paid $297 (brand new) shipped for the 5100's and then $300 for install + alignment. Glad I did.

Yesterday...I washed the Taco twice trying to get rid of the literal crap all over the taco. Smells so bad. We hit some sort of sewage runoff or pig mud crap.

Then I decided to chop the tip off as I noticed when my buddy trailed he almost hit his tip.

Same applies to the Sport stock shocks. The 5100's provide a much better feel on the road. Sport shocks were stiff. Think I paid $330 for all 4 and $190 to install the fronts. No alignment was needed. Was still in spec. Installed rears at home in 30 minutes. Rides excellent.

I can't decide if this is the same route I want to take. It will be a good while before I can afford an actual lift kit and I don't do any serious off roading at the moment. I'm thinking this same setup might be good to tide me over until I can get a complete lift kit.

You decided to chop your tip off because your buddy almost hit it? Ummm… ouch! Seriously though... You cut your exhaust because your buddy was tailing you close enough to almost hit you? I don't get it.

He almost hit his exhaust tip when trailing. So it clued me in that I better cut mine off to avoid a future incident.

I'm still exhausted from that day's 18 hour 'day trip' and trying to clean the nasty out of the truck for 2 hours. lol

Regardless of the "buddy trailing" it is wise for trailers to chop that tip when trailing in rocky areas. I have seen pictures of tailpipes turning into pretzels due to catching rocks.

Ah! “Trailing”, as in off-roading on trails. Not trailing, as in following, or the last in a convoy. Makes much more sense now.

But, that said, I don’t mind having a deformed tip. I call it “character”. :D

I would never teach any dealers about our mods. All they will do now is raise prices for items we need due to supply and demands. Eff them!
