I use AmsOil Heavy Duty Metal Protector on my frame. It's a great product. I wash everything underneath, let it dry in the garage and then on a nice day I park out on the concrete pad and spray everything underneath with this stuff. Goes on everything. Runs easily but it drys like wax. Cheaper than the Fluid Film or others but in my opinion does just as good of a job. You just have to reapply it every year before winter.

I actually am placing an order through a friend to get more for this winter very soon. I could get you guys some if you'd like!

Just food for the brain! I found it on TW years ago. Someone had bought a brand new Tacoma in Buffalo, NY and used this. Didn't have a spec of rust underneath the next year. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Alright, let’s try this again. I still want to do a meet/great BBQ. I’m thinking mid to late September. Thoughts?

I love a great BBQ. Mid sept would be better for me I think. I'm always up in the air with plans anyway. So busy at work and I normally don't turn down overtime

I used it last winter also for the first time , I used 4 cans but probably should have used 2 more maybe . I made the mistake of running the truck through the car wash mid winter , some was left over and got me through he winter . I cleaned it in the spring and everything was clean and rust free and no salt corrosion .

How many cans you use ? Oh the stuff smells like crayons / wax-ish too

I just got my truck and I'm interested in doing this, what else do I need to get to try it myself? How messy is this stuff (should I do it on my driveway)?

Mine seemed to stay on pretty good throughout the entire winter even through car washes. I just don't choose the underneath spray.

I use about 3/4. I really should do a heavier coat this time. I normally spray a light coat, let it dry for 15 min, do another, wait 30, and then do another, let it dry 24 hours. I'll probably do 5 coats this time.

1st step, clean underneath your truck really good. I normally wear old cloths and crawl underneath with a pressure washer. Then use about 4/5 cans, let it dry 24 hours. Wear a mask, it really smells.

I would suggest using old clothes or something you don’t mind getting potentially ruined . I’d use some kinda exam gloves to keep it off your hands. It didn’t get all over my driveway when I did it , I had more on my hands and got some on my shirt and pants when I was rolling around underneith the truck from accidentally rubbing against stuff. You would have to spray a lot of this stuff to get it to drip off the frame , I did get some runs thou. It’s very sticky and a pain to get off your skin . It dries a light brownish and smells kinda like crayons or waxy for like 1-2 weeks . I’m either doing the amsoil hemp again OR fluid film (another option for you)

When I did mine last winter the road salt was just sitting on top and I kinda freaked out and made the mistake of running the truck through the car wash with the underbody wash to get he salt off . What I should of done was rinse the road salt off with a hose or garden sprayer or just leave it , it wouldn’t have hurt anything.

Pressure wash and degrease the underside good , (I used a small nylon type brush from the dollar store). My frame was just done in ‘15 with a new frame , so mine was pretty easy to get clean

Honestly, I forget. I bought a bunch of it over a year ago but I only have two cans left. I'll find out and let you know before I order.
