I’m glad I didn’t read this item before buying my Off Road a few weeks ago:

    https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/27/toyota-tacoma-trd-off-road-review/

Couldn’t bring myself to test drive a Colorado, though I did walk around a few of them, and I did sit in a Ridgeline. I read a lot of reviews, and not all of them were favorable toward the Taco. But I’d owned a couple, and was never unhappy.

Anyway, these bloggers are pretty rough on one of the great loves of my life. Thoughts?

I think the consensus on the Ridgeline is that its a crossover with a bed. : )

Edited: Changed SUV to crossover because by definition SUVs use truck frames.

His quote "But hey, if all you want is a good-looking truck with a high resale value and likely solid reliability, then the Tacoma will be fine for you.", Nah, I want a ugly looking truck that will depreciate to shit in 10 years, and will likely cost me more to fix during the same time frame as it will owning a Tacoma. :boink: :crapstorm:

It’s obvious the guy who wrote the article doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about...GM has been building garbage since the 70’s that’s fact!

I sat in a Ridgeline. The height adjustable seat was great, the transmission dipstick was a neat feature not seen on the Tacoma. The shifts were so smooth I hardly even noticed it, the rear seat ac vents were a hit with the kids. It went through the Starbucks drive through very nice and the ride height matched up with the drive through window just right so I didnt worry about spilling my pumpkin spice latte. At the mall you should have seen the women come over to see what this machine was. Oh, and the in bed trunk, let me tell you how nice that was. I could lock my bath and body works lotion in there while I went to check out the sale at payless shoes.
It was a real eye opening experience, in fact so real that I went to the Honda dealership the next day and purchased my new ride.

"Sport mode fixes this a bit, but I'd love to drive a manual-equipped Taco and skip the auto altogether."

Yeap, when I was active duty Fire Dept in the 70's and 80's,our city bought some brand new C-10 pickup's,I will tell you those trucks were the biggest piece of junk ever, extremely cheap all plastic interior, hoods that bent in half just from opening and closing them, paint the would peel off in 2'x2' sheets, everything on the truck rattled from day one.

Thanks. This color scheme was only available in the U.S. for 2017. It was wife approved too, so that made it easier.

Hey, I didn’t drive it, nor put my hands on the wheel. There might not even be any prints left.

"Associate Editor Joel Stocksdale: Seriously, this truck feels about 15 years behind the times when it comes to on-road driving."

Note that you are reviewing a vehicle trim called "Off-Road". If you wanted nice on-road manners you should have reviewed a Sport or a base SR5.

Video Production Manager Eddie Sabatini: "No, I didn't take the Tacoma TRD Off Road off-road, but I didn't need to take the Colorado ZR2 off-roading to enjoy driving it."

Yes, well since you didn't mention it, I suspect you didn't take the Colorado off-road any more than you did the Tacoma.

Associate Editor Reese Counts: "And of course it's excellent off-road. I've driven various Tacos over the past few years, and all of my complaints about on-road performance don't matter when you're crawling along in four-low."

Well, they got something right anyway...
