Yea, does anyone know the exact weight different between the steel and aluminum ones and is the weight savings for the bottle really worth it price wise in the end?

Just an fyi, it’s not just about the weight, it’s longevity as well. The propane shop near me will actually decline filling a tank if they see too much corrosion on it. They say the tanks rust from the inside out, so if you see a little on the outside their is most likely a lot on the inside. With the aluminum tank you will never have corrosion. I believe my tank was $179 at the time I purchased it. Along with buying a tank that will last forever, I also wanted the size and dimensions of that particular tank. Weight of aluminum was just a third bonus.

Good to know on that. I guess if you at least kept it in good condition it should last longer I would expect?

As long as you don’t puncture the tank it’ll last literally forever.

Dang, guess I can't use mine as target practice then.

Had a thought about OBW... I need to get with waterport and see if the new waterport can be mounted vertically and still function as intended with the pressurized setup or not. Or if not, if the driver side swing out would have enough space to put the waterport in the horizontal position. Would eliminate the need for a jerrycan and water pump setup and could be made portable and easily removable and so forth. For about the same price as Jerry can holder, can, and pump and all that jazz I bet. A little less capacity, but easily refillable if needed and able to pressurize it again.

I use a 20lb tank with a milk crate (also stash tent stakes and other slender items in the corners of the crate to maximize the usable space), but that's mainly because I use propane for stoves, water heater, and tent heater... so I can go through a fair bit of propane on an extended trip.

If I'm going solo and don't need to run the heater I'd love to strap a smaller tank to the outside like @Chux

I originally made a mount for putting my Rotos on the spare.

    IMG_4866.jpg IMG_4867.jpg

After sometime thinking where/how to mount the 6lb tank it just hit me to use the spare mount. So I added an additional plate to the spare mount that would hold the propane tank. It all worked out so well, everything fits snug but doesn't interfere with each other..

So how long would it take for you to remove that to be able to get your spare down and such?

Not long at all... the same three lugs I need to remove to get the spare off are holding the Rotos and propane tank mounts. They are bolted together so I’d lift them off as one to get my spare off. Sorry no yard sale....

Lol, just wondering, what all does that weight when the rotos are full and everything?
