Come to Rush. It's in my signature, turn your phone sideways. Click blue linky link

I'd entertain the idea of a woofer and cab for if it isn't shit and I can still use the rear seats. Potentially the other items as well.

I'll be at rush barring an actual emergency. I doubt I'll have the carpet out by then but the woofer is chilling in the garage - it's the JBL factory woofer, mounts dead center on the rear wall of the cab between the seats whether you've got the long ones or the short ones. No problem to throw it in for you to take a look.

    Sure. Bring it along.
Mounting to the back wall or under a seat are the options I want anyway. Got 2 dogs and 2 young kids to somehow cram into the back of an AC lol

So what you’re saying is that I should remove my front sway bar and I should go outside and do it right now at 2:30 am?

I mean, the truck has only spent 9 years in Ohio. It’s not like I’ve had any rusted bolts break or strip on me yet. Oh wait... stupid rear bumper support bar:annoyed:

Still working on it... stupid rusted bolts and factory skid plate. :frusty:

Think I need to remove both wheels. Anyone have a jack I can borrow or a stack of ceramic tiles? If not I hear oversized Jenga blocks will work too.

Hi Gents, (please forgive the amount of words you are about to read) I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on both the lift kit and a new set of tars and would like y'all's feedback on the following:

    Lifts:

This Billy package with 885, strut assembly, lr uca, single leaf for $1097?
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p440/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_-_(HS05BK-1).html

Or this OME package with 885, strut assembly, lr uca, medium leaf, 90021 struts for $1695?
    https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s..._Emu_Kit_w/_Dakar_Leaf_Pack_-_05__Tacoma.html
(I would also be looking to paint these red rather than putting Squeeler yellow on my rig)

My biggest question is whether the OME package is worth the extra $600?

    Tires:
I'm currently running on 265 70 R17 Goodyear dura tracs which I would like to move away from due to wear issues. I'm running them on my stock 07 sport 17" rims. I'm 80% on the flat stuff and 20% on the brown stuff right now(hopefully moving that ratio closer to the middle)

    A few questions:

Being that I'm raising the truck almost 3" what tire size would look and perform best without cutting fenders?

    Brands/styles:
    Falken Wildpeak A/T3W
Nitto Ridge Grappler (leaning towards these based on reviews)
    K 0/2
(open to additional suggestions here as well)

I'd like a little wider and taller than my 265's for a meaner looking stance.

Also, thoughts on spacers? .75 is what I'm seeing the most on here.

I'm a newb when it comes to tires and suspension so try to be somewhat gentle, if you can't then I will grin n' bare it and probably return serve with my own smartass retort!!

Also, I'm hella good with wood (used to build houses) but a novice when it comes to wrenching(I'm pretty good at completing any task if I'm able to watch a vid or observe live). I know a few of you offered to help me install the lift when I got the supplies so I would also be looking to schedule that asap. I have plenty of room at my place but lack all the right tools for the job so i'm open to doing whatever makes the most sense.

I currently have the 5100s with 885 coils on my truck. I went with the ICON progressive three leaf AAL in the back and got pretty much exactly two inches of lift all the way around (I kept the overload spacer in the rear leaf pack to maintain the factory rake). Assuming your truck is a 4x4 model you likely won’t see a full three inches with the 885s on a double cab unless you preload them or add a top spacer, both of which will degrade your ride quality. I didn’t spring for the adjustable UCAs and didn’t have any trouble with my alignment specs after the lift. Another benefit to keeping the lift under three inches. Also, if you get bored here is a link to my long winded and research filled lift thread.

I’m currently running 265/70/17s K02s with .75” spacers on my stock TRD Sport wheels and the suspension listed above. I really like the way the spacers bring the tires out a hair past the fender flares but I’ll be honest, after two years or so on this setup the tires are starting to look small to me. I’m personally looking to upgrade to a 33” tire in likely a 285 width. But if you want to avoid all the trimming that’s required with a 33” tire I’d suggest a 255/80 or if you want to spend the money BFG makes the K02 in a 34x10.5x17. The tire is really only a 33 when mounted but the width is more along the lines of a 265 and shouldn’t rub nearly as much as a 275 or 285 would. I also don’t like the look of the 255 on a lifted truck but that’s just me.

Oh and to your comment about whether the OME setup is worth the extra money since it comes with new Dakar rear leaf packs I’d be tempted to say yes. And I say this because of the rear driveshaft vibrations I dealt with on my AAL rear lift. From what I’ve read you can likely avoid the rear driveshaft alignment issues and thus the vibrations by buying a Dakar leaf pack. And considering I spent close to $700 on my new one piece rear driveshaft if I could do it all over again I’d be willing to spend the extra money on the new rear leafs out of the gate. I don’t know much about the OME shocks but there are plenty of guys running them so I’m sure you can find opinions all over the place on this site.

Thanks for the 411! I just went for it and bought the OME setup. Still going to mull over the tire set for a few more weeks but you provided a good overview of your experience. I appreciate the feedback my man!

    Thanks!!

Seriously...the personal time and effort to make my truck what it is, that’s $1,000.00s of dollars from stock!

    Don’t tell my wife!

So... after a weekend of wheelin, I realize I need a little more armor, and articulation. I was 3- wheelin a bunch!

Will removing the sway bar help much? Of do I need to get more drastic? My truck is running a full FOX setup with Dakar rear leafs for an approximate 3” lift.

Yes. It will definitely let the front flex out more, in compression and extension.
