Crank won’t turn

He was going to fix the truck no matter what route was needed to be taken. He may be (saving up) looking for an engine.
I'd think he would have checked in if he was rebuilding it.

 

Sorry guys on not keeping up. I just been really busy at work and all that. Still haven't found time to take it to the shop. So yeah ita still broke. I have been looking for a motor but not much luck on anything in my budget.
I did come across a 4.7L out of a 2003 tundra is this something that can be swap in to my 07 tacoma forerunner?

 

What's wrong with the 4Runner? Or are you thinking 4R'er to Tacoma, V8 to 4R'er?

I'd be worried about getting too strung out with 2 projects unless you have a shop......a nice shop.

And a third vehicle.

 

Auto correct. Ment to be pre runner. How hard would it be to put the 4.7 in the spot of my 4.0 That was locked up?

not impossible. Certainly more expensive than whatever your seeing for a 4.0 though.

Don't think resell will be better either. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft. pole.

 

Well I can get the wiring the ecm the transmission and engine for about a $1000

 

I believe you'll have to weld the engine mounts further forward. Use a custom radiator and the wiring won't be plug and play, but that's not the hard part.

I really don't get why this wasn't the XRunner configuration though, I'd have bought one gladly. I just wouldn't want to be out of town needing a custom part when something breaks.

Good luck with whatever you decide, but it seems to me, after all the effort put in so far, the path to least resistance and the cheapest would be to get the original to the shop to check it out and get a better sense of what you can/can’t do with it.

 

Some people just don't care about other peoples property. That is why I'll never have renters again.

I agree my best bet would be to get it to the shop and see what they say about it.know to find the time to get it there.i I have been picking at the body. So far I have gotten a front bumper assy,grill passenger front door and back door .The only thing left is a bed side and flare and front windshield and back slider .

 

Sorry I have been away for so long guys. New update I Finally have a motor for the truck.paid $1300 it has 86k miles on it and a 30 day warranty.now to get somethings changed over and in the truck and running in that time frame.

Is it post '06' head gasket iffyness?

This will make a nice truck for a long time.

 

It came out of a 2005. I know you guys said 05-06 have head problems. But I had to take it. Plus I still have my 07 motor as parts

 

I'd change that head gasket while you have it out of the truck. You are kind of rolling the dice. Some people have issues some don't. My 05 tundra has 358,000 miles and no HG issues yet *knocks on wood*. But I have heard the ones who had a bad gasket it usually popped up around 100,000 miles.

 

Good to know. What do you recommend kit wise to go with for that? Also any input on what I should use to clean the gas tank out with( the tank is out of the truck) and flush the fuel lines as well.just to be safe if that way the old motor locked up.

 

not sure if there is any specific kits but I would go with a new OEM gasket. Maybe do the water pump while you are already there too.

 

I'd just drop the tank with what you've had to deal with and still not really know what was in there.

The pump could be nasty too.

I know it hasn't been a simple fix but when done, it will be 'fixed'.

AND....you're going to know this truck like your hand.
