This is how we evolved from banging rocks together to now using gps to find our favorite swimming hole...

Peer reviewed results that become generally accepted until it is then proven false. That is what makes science work. Verifiable data.

Refuting verifiable, peer reviewed data is just personal flagelaltion. Just because someone doesn’t like the results doesn’t mean that the results aren’t real.

Science/data deniers always use the base of the scientific method as ammunition to their own argument to refute what they don’t agree with. Thankfully, data is data.

We are now starting to understand that some of the Newtonian theories about gravity aren’t entirely true. That still doesn’t change the fact that gravity exists. It just means we are now in a quest to understand the deeper, underlying mathematical structures that explain the new data that has been discovered.

Anti intellectualism has been a tear lately. I find it sad to see.

Science is the process and that is rigid. New data however will change the results of that process.

Yeeeaaahhhhhh. I was reading up on someone's blog who had it as an adult. Sounds and looks fucking awful if it gets bad.

I'm really hoping he can overcome it. He has a good constitution and is a resilient little bastard. Hardly ever gets even a sniffle. Just bought a ton of sanitizer, and fresh kiddo tylenol and ibuprofen. He had a low fever and two dots in his throat this morning. Really hope we don't get it, and I really hope he turns a corner by tomorrow morning. We'll be locked and loaded to go, and the final call will be when he wakes up.

My old house, in EPA, I sold for a million bucks. Cash offer, no contingencies and all waivers signed. I spent 2.5 years rebuilding that shit hole. The new owners are getting plans approved to knock it down and build a 2 story McMansion... I guess all that hard work was worth it.

I am happy to be back in Benicia.

Buying that house in EPA was one of the best financial decisions I ever made. I hated the neighborhood. Nothing like gang tags and shit on the sidewalk to make you wanna move.

FacePlant is changing EPA in a big, gentrified way. I feel for the folks who grew up there and now have to move out to the valley just to afford to live. Just glad I made my money and got out.

"Anti intellectualism has been a tear lately"

Data is data? Depends on who's presenting the data. And how much grant money they've been given to prove a favorable outcome.
Science is science. Science is not FACT. Science is theory. You said yourself, it is "generally accepted". I'm fine with that. But you seem to be dancing around a particular issue that has you steamed. Deniers. Anti intellectualism. Personal flagellation. Pretty serious allegations. We'll probably have to go to PM to continue this discussion.

Peer review is synonymous with generally accepted. If data is able to be replicated with the scientific method, well then, it is generally accepted.

Not accepting the data is personal choice. Personal choice doesn’t change the data.

Data can be manipulated. However, under peer review, if the data is not verifiable, it is then reviewed again. Until it is confirmed to be false data or it is verifiable. This is the scientific method. That means science is constantly being reviewed and verified. Just because it is constantly being verified, doesn’t mean that it is false.

A common anti intellectualism ploy is to play the “correlation leads to causation” gambit. This plays with logical falicies.

The statisticians have born out that correlation does not lead to causation. Again, a fact that hasn’t been able to be proven false, yet.

Science is a belief in a structure of “Test, Verify, Validate”.
