What tools do you keep in your Tacoma at all times?

Scroogie set, pliers, deep-well socket/breaker bar/torque wrench for lug nuts, factory jack, flashlight, 3" snatch strap, hitch and shackle for recovery.

Plus a get home bag, but that's a different thread.

 

For now I will most likely keep my bag in the rear floor board unless I have passengers. In that case, I will sit it in the bed while in transit and put it in the cab when parked.

I can fit everything in my bag behind the rear seat just not the bag itself. I'm hoping to make an organizer for the compartment behind the passenger side rear seat for all of my stuff until I get a tool box.

 

I keep jumper cables in the bottle jack storage. Then in the back seat I have an extra set of jeans and sweatshirt. In the toolbox I keep a set of mechanics tools and some electrical stuff extra fuses, wire, cutters, tape, etc. I also keep an e tool a hatchet a log chain a snatch strap a sleeping bag and spare fluids all in the toolbox. In the bed I keep 3 solid cinder blocks for tire chocks and jack elevators.

I have seen ammo cans used well but I prefer the lockable tool box

 

Straps, clevices, snow shovel during winter, tools, lubricants. If/when I ever do any kind of armor and sliders I'll have a hi lift and shovel.

 

Off the top of my head, to name a few things:

Some basic tools
spares (drive belts, relays, fuses coils)
small tarp
flashlite
pressure gauge
length of coat-hangar wire

 

Two 20 foot 20k tow straps, some associated hardware (D-rings, hooks, quick links, etc). I also keep my trailering supplies, so hitches, various balls, ratchet tie-downs, bungee cords, and a tarp. All of this fits into the space under the rear seats or into the rear center console. I've also got my GHB, which is in a backpack behind the passenger seat. Tools are limited; Craftsman 100-piece tool set, tire gauge, portable compressor (the type that plugs into the cig lighter), and a couple pair of Channel locks.
Plus the standard car stuff: phone charger, snow broom, ice scraper, leather work gloves (insulated if it's winter), etc.

As much as I'd love to put a tool bench full of everything I have in the bed, the reality is I should have a small box for the essentials. What tools do you guys keep in your vehicle in case of emergencies? What sizes of sockets and wrenches are needed more than others? I don't have much experience working on the Tacoma yet, so I dont really know what I need.

 

For me, just a set of metric offset wrenches, and a Harbor Freight breaker bar with socket for tire changes. In for ideas.

 

All you really need is a 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 35 (socket only) wrenches and sockets to do just about anything on these things. I do recommend at least 2 19mm wrenches

 

no wonder it sunk like a rock!

 

I sure hope I never have such a situation where I need to weld something, but that sounds like a neat setup for SHTF breakdowns.

 

Do you need multiple batteries or can just one get the job done? At least for something quick

 

At one time I carried about any tool I needed .

The tool box is still there but it has been years since I touched it.

Now I just call a Roll back to take me home .

If something breaks i doubt I could or would want to fix it along the road

 

Jump pack with air compressor, socket kit, jumper cables, as soon as I get a chance a good bottle jack so I can trash the oem jack. Most important a roadside assistance card, not sure if I’d even bother changing a flat anymore.
