2012 Silver Double Cab Tacoma TRD
Hello everyone, I am a proud new owner of a 2012 Tacoma DBL cab TRD with 81k miles. She will be my daily driver about 80 miles round trip mostly highway. I do not plan on beating and banging on the truck. I do have some great 4x4 trails in the Uwharrie National Forest. I already love my truck. I have been lurking around for weeks and reading a lot of great info on our trucks. With all the great info and mods to be done. My question is as follows:

What are the most useful mods or things to do to the truck and still keep it as a daily driver?

    Thank you for you help.

Congrats on the truck OP! Some of the common items that a lot of members buy are:

    Bed mat
    RAM Mount for phone
switch to either LED or HID bulbs for increased visibility

If you want to reach the next level of capability and are willing to take a 2-3MPG hit, a 2-2.5 in lift kit and 33s will get you significantly farther then you would assume on the trails

I have thouroughly enjoyed every mod I have done but the best money spent has been for Clazzio Leather seat covers and Nano Ceramic heat rejection film (tint) put on ALL of my windows to include the rear and windshield.

You can get clear films for the windshield but mine is very slightly tinted and I like it because it helps with glare on my eyes. I have ZERO visibility issues driving at night.

Best money spent. My leather seats never get hot and my interior never gets bolstering hot.
I also hate when you get hot on your skin from the sun beating in the windows when you drive. I shouldn’t have to wear sunscreen in my truck.

I spend a lot of time in my truck and don’t need to be getting skin cancer.

I also love my Softopper cap as well.

I tried in my 99 AC gen 1 and couldn't get enough room but that model was a bit more narrow than a gen 2

Boring reply......If it's not paid for, put your "mod" money into paying it off. Floor mats and bed mat. Then just drive it! How you use it will dictate what mods you may want. You can spend a boat load of dough changing the looks, if that's you thing. Or you can just admire her as she sits and spend the dough on..............

I 2nd this as well most useful mod I’ve done an ram mount as well. If your not wanting to lift your truck billy 5100s will help with your ride quality and some bling also. For a cost effective leveling set them on the 1st notch you’ll get .85 of lift up front or swap some OR 3rd gen coils up front to get 1in.
Also look up locker anytime mod, an sliders possibly for door dings an pesky pirates that wanna trash your rocker panel.

I have become very used to my d-rings I applied to the bed boxes in the bed. I am not sure its my fav mod, as the bird-dawg rear view was listed above and I have that. Its awesome. Bed mat is listed, its a requirement. Every taco should just come with the bed mat. A-pillar RAM mount is listed, I have them on both sides for me and the wife. Very useful.

    :cookiemonster:

I use these d-rings ALL the time now, with bungies, with ratchet straps. They are just great.

The RAM Mount is great I am doing this for sure. Billy 5100s look good also. I will be needing tires in a few thousand miles. That is good stuff.
