Most useful mods

I can vouch for this. I love my rear view lift bracket. I'm not a tall guy at 5'9" but it proves to be a huge increase in visibility out the front windshield none the less.

 

Adding D-rings at the front of my bed is the only mod I've done (to date), and I'm glad I did. I use them almost every time I haul something in my bed.

Ac drain mod and dif vent mod

 

Splash/mud guards, tube steps, remote start, bedmat, dash cam, locking wheel lugs since I fish at night. All I’ve done to mine. Don’t plan on any suspension work, may explore different tire when these need replaced

 

Another boring but necessary thing I would start with is general maintenance. Front/rear Diff, t case, oil, spark plugs, coolant flush, p/s flush, pcv valve, serp belt, engine air filter, cabin air filter, check your brake pads, the boots are probably only half gone if that they last forever on these trucks. If your tires only have a couple thousand left on them maybe rotate them also. It’s good to know when these things were last done on your vehicle, so start fresh.

 

just like this guy said.... floor mats. You should look into 3D Maxpider floor mats. That's what I have and IMO, they're much better and cheaper than weathertech and husky.

Dont forget your recovery gear, jumper cables, some tools. I would buy all that stuff first.

 

Bedmat keeps coming up. Is there a reason why? I always thought that they caused your bed to rust.

I would do the tailgate security mod. It’s cheap and easy to do. Ya just don’t know when the trailer trash shows up.

Thats part of the fun. I learn something new everyday. This place has taught me sooooo much. Such a great asset here for our trucks.

 

In my opinion, if you want your truck to last, when it comes to mods leave the suspension alone. Trucks look great lifted with bigger wheels and tires but adds wear and tear, reducing longevity. I have replaced my factory headlights, added an illuminated 4x4 switch, dual USB/lighter port in armrest for rear passengers and installed Better Bed Lights to illuminate the bed (and apparently everything 50 yards behind me haha). Also added a 2 channel dash cam. That's it so far. My next mod will be a roof rack with kayak mount, no plans after that.
To address the thread topic, my most useful mod would have to be the bed lights.

ACC outlet always on is one I like.
I always was running out of battery with my BT head set when I pulled into driveway. Now its charged up 100% in the morning and can charge things with out leaving a key in it with doors unlocked while at the beach

For expensive mods, I really like the Bakflip folding tonneau and locking tailgate, so my stuff in the bed stays secure. For cheap or free mods, anytime power windows, anytime USB charger port, front bed D rings, seat spacers, rear diff breather relocate.

My Taco has the heavier duty rear D-rings through the bed (At mounts) but not in the front....I find that disturbing and would like to put them in the front of the bed also!
My neighbor wants to put cleats or handles on the side of the bed near the floor towards the cab for more tie-downs and intends to back the cleat with a plate of metal on the other side of the plastic bed before putting nuts/washers on. I LOVE the adjustable tie-downs on the rail system and found some online for a great price new in the factory packaging!
