Me too! I had a F-150 Ecoboost that I did like....but...I just did t have fun driving it. I missed a manual after having to get rid of a Mustang when we bought a house. Got the f150 and just wasn't making me happy. The manual Taco does!

Nah man...it doesnt "hold" the truck if you try to go forward, it just retards the rollback during the clutch engagement transition. It drives just like it doesnt have it, cept the is no back roll prior to positive forward motion. There really isnt anything to get used to. It is precisely the same as if you wanted to retard the roll back on an incline utilizing the hand brake in your OR. But in the HA optioned buggies, when you wanna go forward, it goes forward.

I'll be straight up honest tho...I dont mind it out on the road on a hill start. BUT in my DRIVEWAY when I want to depart (I nose up) I dont put it in reback to get out (you know, wrestling it into reback and all lmao) I tend to just let it roll back in Neutral...yet the times when I press the brake with clutch for Neutral (rare these days) for start up and get go...i detest the wait for HA release. I've learned that in my driveway, E-brake operations only lol

The same for me except that I don't hate it. Maybe I've gotten to be a bit older? I still act like I'm somewhere between 4 and 14, but there are a few modern gizmos that I like. Keyless entry, back up cams, and fuel injection (my last bike had carbs). The HSA just slows me down a bit. I neutral out of my driveway and am okay with that little delay.

Not a fan of hill holders. I always coast in neutral and roll back to turn around on uphill spur roads. I avoid reverse at all costs in these trucks. I just can’t stand the reverse gearing. Then again I don’t understand the system, if I rolled up a hill in neutral would it let me roll back down?

I'm still not used to it. I drive my camaro 50% and the taco 50% so each time i get in the taco and it holds me before rolling down my driveway it surprises me.

I thought none of the manuals had the hill assist... interesting to know just the OR and PRO don't. Kind of backwards actually in my opinion.

If you don't touch the brakes, it would not hold you. The system seems to hold pressure on the rear brakes after they have been pressed if on a slope. It works if you are trying to go forward and are nose up and in reverse if you are nose down. With the stupid reverse ratio, I have a lot of appreciation for it there.

Automatics tend to make better tow vehicles due to the nature of an automatic tranny being somewhat of a torque multiplier. Just saying'...

Except unlocked torque converters will heat up the fluid, which will ruin it and damage the transmission.

The grearing of the manual is much lower than the automatic in both the transmission and differential. Just saying...

And no torque converter generating that extra heat. Towing up hills for a prolonged period of time definitely advantageous to the manual.

Why in hell do they make that distinction? They must sit around at corporate and make it up, or flip a coin.

Isn't the ratio of AT to MT 100:1? I read the other day that less than 20% of Americans can drive a stick. Canadians must be more plus cheaper health care. That gives us some theft protection, then Canadians could come down and steal ours!
