Just took my 2018 for the 5k service, advisor staded that my truck had the latest update. Told them to check the level of oil in the tranny as a precautionary measure, and they found out mine was 1/2 quart low from the factory. They also did a master reset, and it seems to drive much better, no hunting for gears on freeway speeds like before...

I'm glad that Burien Toyota came through for you. I bought the truck from them.
Emailed advisor and called them about 3 week ago to plan TSB update while doing 10K. They played dummy with me- never heard of any TSB, my truck does not have any recalls BS.

Anyways, truck definitely feels perky after TSB. Now I can do in and out of traffic without any problems. I can spool that thing now.
I did TSB while I have less than 1/2 tank left, but millage seems the same as far as I can tell.

Mine is a 2018 that I bought in February. I had the TSB applied about 2 weeks ago. The truck feels basically the same as before. It still hunts pretty bad. There are still times when I put my foot in one place to accelerate and it downshifts, upshifts, downshifts, upshifts in the space of 3-4 seconds. The 4th to 3rd downshift when coming to a stop is slightly smoother than before, but still a very noticeable thud and being thrown forward in the seat. I'm tempted to get OVTune, but so far I've been told that ECT is the answer (it isn't), ShiftSense Pro is the answer (it sort of is?) and this TSB is the answer (it isn't). So I'm hesitant to drop another $800 on OVTune when everyone says "it's the answer". I really feel like the answer is the new Ranger...

Tranny fluid still low in the 2018s? How can Toyota not fix this? Are dealers checking it wrong or is Toyota still underfilling tranny’s in the 3 rd year of production?

(2017 DCLB 8k miles) I Got mine updated about 300 miles ago, right after leaving the dealership It was awesome!! smoother shifting when trying to accelerate, also when trying to speed up on the freeway it downshifted one gear and accelerates smooth instead of breaking your neck and kicking down hard a few gears. But it does seem like its starting to do some of the old things again? (maybe re-learning the old crap?) I think this is a good step in the right direction but Toyota still has work to do on this issue. Im really trying to like this truck.....

Just a heads up I had this issue at Kirkland where I bought mine. Took it to Michaels Bellevue and really didn’t have to say much the advisor already knew what to do and no questions asked did it for me. I’m switching dealers.

Just a reminder to everyone who has voted here, that you can change your vote if your opinion changes.

So far the results are staying close to 80% of respondents totally satisfied, though a little ground is being lost to other opinions as well. Hopefully the tune “sticks” and is not diminished or overwritten by other factors like ECU learning.

In my experience, the ECU learning improved my trucks drivability with the original factory tune, so I’m hoping the TSB tune, will start out good, and just get better.

My truck has a build date of 7/18 and apart from having an affinity to get into 6th gear ASAP, I don’t have any issues with the drivability in normal mode. With ECT on, it holds out gears and keeps everything peppy like everyone here is reporting.

Are y’all driving with ECT on after the TSB? What’s a good way to know if my build already has the TSB incorporated?

Open drivers door, look down to the right, top sticker above recommended tire pressure.

Well it was 1/2 a quart which its not unheard of in new vehicles. This happens often especially on sealed transmissions other makes including some premium ones have had these type of issues. Just make sure you leave your truck for most of the day since it takes hours to diagnose the level of oil since they have to put the transmission at operating temperatures and so on.
Don't stress it so much, all makes have issues including much expensive vehicles, just make sure they check for the latest update TSB and tell them to check the level of oil in your tranny since you are aware that in 2016 it was a very well known issue when they re design the truck.

Had my dealer do the update (0058) last week when I took it in for the 15,000 service. It does shift smoother but other than that I don't notice much difference. It really sucked when I got it because it was hunting gears all the time. I just drove it like I stole it and it learned to stay in a lower gear and quit hunting as much. That said I luv my truck

For those wondering what ECU version you are using, I think you can buy a cheap OBDII bluetooth reader (ELM-327 compatible I think it needs to be) off Amazon for ~$20 and then use the OBD Fusion app (Android only?) to check what it is currently at. I don't know the details as I haven't tried myself, but saw mention of it in other threads surrounding these updates.

My specific dealer is amazing, it was my experience with corporate that was disgraceful. Considering others remarks about dealer experiences, the guys I know at my local dealer don't ask questions, or play games. They listen to me, and work with me instead of against. I dropped off truth Saturday am, left the TSB on my seat, picked up truck a couple hrs later and WOW what a difference. Feels like it should, pickup is very responsive, NO hesitation at full throttle, shifts gears smooth.

I’m having my truck serviced tomorrow. There has been some confusion on the tsb number is it tsb0058-18 or tsb0062-18? I have a 2017 trd sport built 12/16 in Baja.
