MOD: A-Pillar RAM mount GPS/Phone holder

Here is what I did that gave me more room and got the phone closer to the A-pillar to allow it to be more out of the way. One of the reasons I did this is I have a Google Pixl 2XL so for a larger phone the original way the larger phone was hitting the stock handle and had to be super close to the steering wheel.
Here is the Sale thread for the paracord grab handles. I ordered mine 3" longer than his standard ones allowed me to position them more toward the outside of the truck and in the doorway more so they're easier to reach when offroading.

This is how it turned out. I was able to use a 1" long Ram dogbone to mount the x-grip to the ball.

 

I did mine and picked up the arm with the pivot. ABSOLUTELY gives me the ability to move the holder in the best location for me. I may relegate my panavise in the center area to the nav tablet or dedicated phone for the torque app.

Yup Amazon. Just type in toyota tacoma usb port. I wrapped mine in carbon to match everything else in my truck

close enough that I can hit the home button on my phone with my hand on the wheel. With your fingers wrapped around the wheel though, you won't have any problem bumping it.

 

Depends on how you set it up, mine is far enough away that ive never hit it while turning. But close enough that i can skip songs on spotify or zoom in and out on google maps. While resting both hands on the wheel.

 

Your steering wheel is telescoping.

 

I don't know about the SR5 Prerunner, but the Steering Wheel on my 2008 SR5 Access Cab, 2010 TRD O/R Access Cab, and 2013 TRD O/R DCSB all telescoped.

 

Yes they do, I adjusted my steering wheel to the most comfortable driving position. And then adjusted my RAM mount to accommodate that position. Works out great.

 

I wish. It's not though. Unless you count the like 1/8 inch of travel it has...

 

Unless they changed something between 2008, 2010, 2013, to 2015 all of my Tacomas have had about 2-3 inches of telescopic adjustment.
