are you sure that is really the same? I know it is the same Cal-ID, but maybe some adjustments outside the SW?! I've got the 0058 and can only notice a little improvement during city speed (40-50) but at HW speed the same behavior as before (gear hunting, gear 4 for slightly slopes). Many guys reports "...a large improvement..." I unfortunately do not

Yes, it is the same ECU reflash but they apply them for different reasons. I also got the one from TSB 0058 but it’s the same code as 62.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Moondog is correct, the ECU update addresses both TSBs.
FYI - Should you ever wonder this: when a new Update is available for the techs to use, they can only apply the newest update. All previous updates are not accessible to install.

    .

Exactly, my new truck feels like it’s grossly underpowered and over geared. It’s a pleasure driving my F150 after using the Tacoma. The latest TSB had no effect and I’m thinking of having it checked again to see if it was really installed. I’m now considering the OV tune and/or 4:30 gears at this time. I can’t imagine towing anything with this truck.

if they use the last, why the techs take the 0058 and not the 0062? my update was 2 weeks ago

Going in Monday for my 5K service. I requested this be done as well, preferably without a test drive. I'll let you know what happens.

My new service advisor makes sure everything is road tested. My old one, the one that got fired, was cool and just did whatever I asked.

Well, here goes. I just scheduled for Tuesday, the Taco for two problems. The one in this thread and the Deceleration Vibration between 10-30 mph.

I applied this tsb yesterday 9/6 and very happy with the results. Shifts are much smoother and seems to be staying in a lower rpm during my daily commute. Which will improve my mpg. Time will tell but for now extremely happy. Cal. ID 6100 per tsb 0062/0058rev1. are the same results due to same calibration ID on both tsbs for 2018.

Does anyone know if they will do this for a manual truck?

Fuel economy and noise were most likely the reasons this isn't done at the factory. More air into the engine is reciprocated with more fuel being used, hence a small hit to my average MPGs. And honestly, I don't think it's that loud unless you get past 3500 RPMs. The bigger question is whether it's 'worth' $400 as opposed to how much it cost, which it isn't because it's like $20 worth of plastic, but, hey, at least you get the TRD filter. I've researched lots of aftermarket solutions, some good/mostly bad, but not all of them are CARB compliant (which is important for 50 state emissions vehicles and warranties), nor are any of them Toyota approved.

Somewhere in this tread or one of the other 62-18 threads, a couple of guys did the update on their manual transmission trucks. IIRC, the results were good.

Just got the update done this morning on mine and my dads, no questions asked in and out 20 mins. World of a difference, feels much smoother on upshifts and downshifts. I had the opportunity to drive it 25 mins to work this morning and 0ooohh man, night and day. Holds gear properly and now has the GO when you need it on the highway when passing people etc. Will be conducting a follow-up after this week of driving with the new update, so far we LOVE it and this fixed all my complaints!

Biggest difference I have felt with the update is the truck actually will hold 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear.
Before it was upshifting so quick, it would throw me into a rage!!! I was fighting the pedal to the point where I wanted to start looking for my old 2nd gen.
Now, it feels similar to my other yotas.

@RobP62 - I must say I do enjoy the sound when I romp on it...which is frequent.
