Hmmm... I bought a bunch of All-Pro stuff, wrote about it in my thread, then they went south. I installed PB bolt-on sliders earlier this year and then this. Should I be worrying about Safe-Jack now?

Oh and @DoorDing I know you'd like the various PB threads to actually contain information rather than shit posts but I couldn't help myself in the Information Release one. Sorry. My name is Ken and I have OCD. It has been 12 seconds since my last obsessive behavior.

"savvy" and "adroit" are not terms that come to mind.

This, however does. I have no rational explanation why it did. But it did.

Ah, well if it passes the old "does it work on my desk test with just my fingers" trial then it for sure will work on some rocky trail in the middle of the Sierras.

Well it was used, from eBay, so it is in one's interest to perform a basic bench test upon receipt to make sure it isn't all jiggered up and need to be returned immediately. But then these days that goes for all new products.

So after reading up on Jerry's BAMF HD shackle thread and multiple issues with certain leaf packs not fitting (his conclusion that essentially any top leaf eye orientation that is like this _O and not this -O will bind up), I'm done going after HD shackles for now, which will clearly just delay and complicate my lack of progress. The Dakars won't fit those without binding up, either.

If you look at the thickness of the steel and the bends required in Jerry's BAMF revised shackle design to stop binding in his HD hanger, they now will cause any Dakar-style setup (like this _O ) to bind in inside the shackle, just like what was happening in the 4Xs.

    HD Shackle hangers?

    HD Shackle hangers?

    HD Shackle hangers?

    Options:
    1. Modify the Dakars to cut down the ends and sides of the Dakar rear tips on several leaves to create a more graduated "feathering" of the leaf tips. LIKE THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN ANYTIME SOON.
    2. Buy different leaf packs. Yeah. Right.
    3. F the HD shackles and just keep my OEM ones.
    4. Buy the OEM "naked" (bushless) shackles (Part Number: 0400565104) and stuff the Wheeler's poly bushings in. These will at least help take out some of the lateral slop in the OEM bushings, and won't seize into the shackle barrels.

So fuck all that, for my needs now I just ordered the naked shackles. I called to verify at Camelback, and the guy I spoke to Jorge, is actually the guy who took that picture!

    1 OEM Catalog - Toyota
    Part Number: 0400565104
    SHACKLE KIT SPRING

$20 for the pair, and another $3 off with code Twpartz

By all means. Only the shackles can be naked. Rules are rules.

After dicking with the 4Xs, I could see it would be the same issue.

Godspeed, DoorKnocker. I envy your free time.
