Mainly prevented me from knocking the spacers off their respective mounting points and protected from banging on roof. Good point on the tabs.

Everything I received was black minus the 2x1 for the wind deflector and the bolts/washers. "Clear anodized aluminum for blah blah".. can't remember what the note said.

Anyone need the wind deflector without the light bar mount?

Has anyone had any luck painting their clear anodized roof rails? I should have bought them black to begin with looking back at it.

For those with the a light par installed....does it mount below the top of the rack? I carry a canoe and long lumber sometimes and doen't want to keep beating up on a light bar if it sits above the level of the rack. Maybe different for a single row light vs double?

Single row sits below/even. Double sits above.

Sorry if this has been posted but, does anybody know if a standard Thule or Yakima cargo box will fit on the standard 2x1 bars? I’m about to pull the trigger and I’m deciding whether to order two extra 1x1 bars as these cargo boxes usually got round or slim “aero” type bars.

    Thanks

While I haven't put it on my truck with the prinsu my thule box connects with pinchers that I am 95% sure will work with the 2x1 bars. The pinchers can slide forward or back from inside the box to some degree, so coupled with the ability to move the prinsu bars there a lot of adjustability..

My thule box is one of the all black short squat ones that I bought maybe 8 or so years ago though, and I don't know if other connection mechanisms have been developed.

I was one of the last people to buy the prinsu from the inventor and had the option to swap a1x1 bar with one 2x1 to fit around the shark fin. I bought a second 1x1 bar because I have a lot of rack accessories that went on the thule 1x1 bars,, so that was the easiest and cheapest solution for me. Can you not do this anymore?

I know the rack and the Thule pinchers are adjustable, just wanted to know if the “squared” profile of the prinsu 80/20 bars worked well with the pinchers. I was going to purchase two 1x1 bars for my toprac to use for the cargo box.

Took 4 weeks for delivery from CBI. The box was damaged and the cross rails were exposed causing damage to each rail. Each rail was still usable. There was also damage to the mounting rail. I emailed CBI and they immediately sent out 7 more cross rails. Those rails arrived a week later undamaged. Great customer service.

There is a tab on the mounting brackets. The left mount tab initially rested on the roof so I added washers to the two rear spacers to raise it up.

Pretty easy install. This rack is stout and sits square. I added a Plano Box to store recovery gear.

I'd also like to know this. Seems more and more vendors are carrying the Prinsu racks. (Rogue Offroad, Tacomabeast, etc.) Wondering if it would reduce lead times to order from a vendor other than Prinsu directly?

Yep all the hardware came in black. They did not send any hardware with the extra cross rails. I bought bolts in black and spray painted the split nuts and washers black.

I'd assemble it indoors somewhere on a flat surface. I installed mine by myself easy enough.

I assembled it indoors and checked the crossbars with a square. Tightened everything up. Prepped the roof, applied sealant and set the spacers in place. Tossed a pair of camping pillows on the roof. Working from the bed I lifted the rack and set the wind deflector on the pillows. Pushed the rack forward into position. Removed one pillow and installed hardware on one side. Repeat for other side.

Suggest using some quick detailer on the roof first so the pillows will slide nice and easy.

Installed some baja designs s2 sports under the rear most crossbar. Very happy with how much it lights everything up.

How did you wire that up? I have the same kinda setup but with my toprac on my shell and I wired everything up and its not working. I feel like its something to do with cutting the wiring harness to add the extra length of wire.
