Well, I've owned my truck since February 18, 2010 and in April a tree branch fell on my truck and last night someone rear-ended me.

I know, no pics...but thats only because there is very minimal to no damage...the bumper was pushed in a bit but there was no damage to the tailgate and I wont be able to notice any more damage until the bumper is off.

Im starting to wonder if I should sell this truck because I dont want this trend to continue. I owned my last vehicle for 8 years and had 1 claim on it.

Im also hoping this is just that "bad luck since its new" situation and that soon it will be over.

I really want to own this truck for at least 10 years. I hope the truck can make it that long.

    This sucks.

I think your doomed!!! just kidding...Just think it could be worse and everytime something bad or wrong happens it is an opportunity for you to learn or gain something out of the situation. ...Dont park by trees and look in your rear view mirror...Also after market bumpers are cheaper than stock...Get something up front and in the rear that will be very difficult to damage. I think you will be fine as long as you dont screw your engine...haha

totally a "bad luck cause its new" thing, so don't sweat it... I'm in same boat, had my taco for only a week now. I ~almost~ took out last night but hoped in other car instead. Wouldn't ya know, some prick threw in front of me his car in reverse at a red light and rammed into me. sure i was hot, but thank god i left the taco home :)

I got rear ended at a traffic light by a Lexus, which was totaled at that point, my 2000 Taco with aftermarket receiver hitch, not a scratch to back end. Guess keeping a ball mounted was the thing that softened the blow. Now this 09 Taco, I'm sure would crumble, it don't seem as beefy as my 1st gen was.

I had an 03 S runner that didnt have any luck either. About 3months after i got it someone hit me in the rear which did everthing but bend the frame 15k worth of damage then a deer wanted to mate with my grill 3k worth damage then lost controll going thru a trun and hit a ditch going 55 4k in damage. I named it no leaf clover and traded it in. Carfax is showing it has been to the shop 10 more time since i got rid of it

It's just bad luck... has nothing to do w/ the truck. Don't sell it just b/c you've had a little bad luck recently. You'll lose your ass on the trade.

    don't worry

    terrible drivers keep hitting my truck:mad: ( 4 collisions:mad:, 1 my fault:eek:)

and so far it keeps getting back up.

funny thing though the truck is possibly worth $7,000 as is

but there have been over $5,000 in repairs alone.

    so is it worth $12,000?:D

I still think you should put up some pictures!! haha I dont think you should get rid of your truck. You just got two accidents out of the way, odds of that happening again are slim, but possible. Are you thinking of getting another new Taco?

Think of the odds: you and your truck have HAD your turn of bad, the odds of anything else must be huge!

I call it the Garp effect...

it's an easy fix. there are two brackets that hold the bumper to the frame. assuming those are what flexed, just replace em.

but don't feel bad, i've been hit 3 times. my rear bumper is beat up and both rear fenders have dents in them. no biggie

dont worry since december ive had 4 wrecks, one being my fault, technically and i got a free SAS outta one of them! the other couldve led to a free wheels but since it was a hit & run i didnt wanna claim it on my insurance, the other no damage and the other no damage to me but messed up the front end on the other car

As another poster said, bumper dents don't count as damage. That's why the bumpers are there in the first place! :D
