Need some help with suspension upgrade

Hi ,

Been a while since my last post.
I installed a spacer lift about 2 months ago(2inch) along with 285/75/16 BFG KO2’s on my 2017 cement TRD Pro. Ever since i have a slight clunk whenever i mount a curb at an angle. Now went back to the installer, and we both think that the issue is the UCA’s hitting the coils in the front.
The advice he gave me is to put aftermarket UCA’s.
Now im finally ready to pull the trigger on the UCA’s but i would also want to remove the rear 2 inch blocks and do the add a leaf in the rear or completely replace the rear leaf packet with the OME el095R X2 dakar leaf springs.
Please some advice wich UCA’s to go with. I live in tropical weather, lots of heat and rain, no snow, in Suriname, South America. Also, no dealer around here to take the truck to when i have these issues. Sothis forums is all ive got.

Also, what are your thoughts on the OME Dakar leafs?

I would like to do this once and pretty much leave the truck as is after this.

EDIT: Also would like to add a 1/4 inch wheel spacer to clear the slight rubbing im having with the wider tires, but tried installing, but only had about 4 thread on the bolts, and i didn’t feel like that was long enough to be safe. So did not install those.

I have Total Chaos UCAs and love em. I have the heavy duty dakars and they’re great too. Not as stiff as I was expecting.

Here’s my opinion... there are a lot of great UCAs out there so it’s hard to go wrong... SPC light racing, JBAs, Total Chaos to name a few. I’m not going to get into the uniball vs ball joint convo, they’re both good.

But if you get an AAL instead of going ahead and getting dakars, that’s what you’ll regret. Because you’ll end up ditching the AAL a few years down the road and STILL buying the full leaf replacement. Buy once cry once.

 

Thanks @doorsidedown i will def get the dakars then and be done with it.
Now the only decision left are wich UCA’s to get. Was leaning toward the ICON’s with delta joint, because that is what the shop recommended but that’s becuase he is an ICON dealer, but he also carries Total chaos.

Im wondering how the ride will change after installing the UCA’s. Heard that it is quite noticeable improvement.

 

it does help control bump steer and allows for a more custom alignment. Sounds like you’re going to a decent shop - adding UCAs won’t mean much if you don’t have an alignment tech that has experience with “lifted” trucks.

 

Yeah, the shop that installs the UCA’s unfortunately does not do the alignment themselves. I have to rely on not so eperienced shop for the alignmnet. Anyway, thanks for the help man.

WOW!! You guys are fast @TOTAL CHAOS . Thank you for the explanation of the caster after lifting. That clears things up a bit.
I will see what the shop down here offers me. For sure they do not have UCA’s for tacoma in stock because down here we are right hand drive and they only keep hilux parts in stock.
