i have a 2018 offroad auto, and wishing I would have bought a manual.

I’m thinking about trading in for an inferno trd or or cavalry blue trd pro with a manual.

Any buyers remorse with the manual?

Or any upgrades for my auto to prevent getting hosed at a dealer on trade?

Why so dis-pleased with your auto?
My '96 has a manual, been driving it for 22 years but really enjoying my 2018 Sport auto.

I guess I’d just like a more “sporty” driving experience.

Maybe I should buy my old Lexus is300 back ha

i saw one guy here who went from MT to AT. @commbubba19 i think. he's the only one I've seen on TW. however it goes for you OP i highly recommend the MT and if you can afford the move then do it. it's not totally perfect over here but perfection requires effort and our mods show lots of value and we're all a mostly content group regarding the truck.

    ...
and seeing you like a sporty experience then I'd say it's a no-brainer. my truck is 1000x more fun to drive than my last car, a highly modified R32, or the one before that, a custom '70 A body with 500hp/600tq. I'd take the Tacoma for fun any day. it took planning and setup to attain my goals but it's very do able in this thing. i out handle sports sedans all the time and I'm on AT tires with zero camber. that shit is crazy fun if you're not afraid to throw her around and find the limits.

    all tore up already
I love my manual, the one auto tacoma loaner I had was such a dog I pulled over after 2 miles of highway to count cylinders. Couldn't believe all 6 were there. Granted I think they came out with a lot of software tuning since then but the difference is real.

Dont listen to me though, I'm a MT fanboy through and through. I wouldn't have bough a tacoma if they didnt offer a 3 pedal option.

I came from a Focus ST 6 speed and damn do I miss picking my gears. Two completely difderent cars of course, and I also wish I would have gotten a manual but no enough to trade in. Maybe the next one I’ll go back to manual

Yes to all of the above... I had an auto and took the financial hit to get the manual. I've owned a dozen cars and the Tacoma was the first automatic, figured it was a truck... but I couldn't stand it long term.

Oh and it's not sporty, at all, so forget that idea. It's just a driving thing... feels right, even though it's a truck.

Do it, if you dislike it in 2018, you'll not be any happier with it in 2019.

Its up to you man. If you aren't happy with the auto and can take the financial hit, do it.

I made the move. Had the auto for a year. It wasn’t bad. I had always had a manual, but thought this truck would be better in an auto so others could drive. Well, I was the only one driving it. And few other little things, like the lack of headroom with the sunroof, BSM bumper, etc. All of that pushed me over the edge.

Needless to say, I lost some dough on the trade. But the dealer was fair and I didn’t want to mess with tire kickers and low ballers. Took it on the chin, but after having it for a few weeks now, I can’t believe how much fun this manual is. No regrets. I even test drove one before I bought the auto, and maybe the contrast of having the auto for a bit added to this, but I literally can’t wait to drive it every day.

    Highly recommended.

Get the OVtune and make that auto awesome. I did it and I have very little to complain about...not to mention a new tune update is coming out soon

Probably worth a shot to drop $700 before I more than likely lose $5k.

Unless I get some kind of deal on a leftover 18 I’ll probably try this... then maybe turbo?
