Has anyone else noticed how weak and weird the the interior plastics are in these trucks? My pocket knife slipped out while going around the corner and scuffed my door panel! My shoes have scuffed the lower panel by the speakers and these damn seats stain so easy! Drives me nuts on a almost 40k vehicle! Both of my 4runners had super sturdy interiors. Any tips on how to remove these?

It’s a truck, the more scratches, the better it looks.

If you wanted a car or van or suv with shiney wheels and clean interior, just go back to the four runner.

Right on, newer vehicles have softer plastic to absorb impact during a crash. That’s all it is

    All the things!
Unfortunately, this is pretty common across all car and SUV's these days. My boss has a Lexus LX570, which is a $100k vehicle, and it suffers from the same issue.

There's a reason that auto manufacturers used to put carpet at the bottom of a door. However, I'd rather have scuffs than carpet.

If I had to guess as to why the plastic scuffs so eaily... Toyota had to find a balance between hard plastic that is scuff resistant, and softer plastic, that doesn't feel as cheap as hard plastic. I had hard plastic in my 1991 Jeep Wrangler doors. You couldn't easily scratch it, but It sucked! It felt cheap, it was loud and rattled like a mofo. I think the Tacoma dash and doors is a decent compromise.

As for a solution, I've seen people suggest a heat gun. Heat up the scuffs slightly to see if you can blend them out. However, you need to be extremely careful not to melt the door. EDIT: based on other replies, don't do this!

Personally, I'd just leave it be, as there will be more, and honestly, no one except you, will ever notice or care. Take care when exiting the truck not to add more, but dont sweat it if you do.

For what it's worth, I rented a Nissan Frontier and I was shocked how easily it's door panels scratched. My fingernails, left scratches when opening the door. This is not solely a Tacoma issue. Good luck!

Don’t know about the plastic, but what size and manufacture of tires do you have? Beautiful truck!

Do you have the light grey seats? I have the caramel/Black sr5 interior and my seats are holding up really well no signs of stains.

And man I'm with you these scuffs are killing me to. When I got the truck it had them at 11k. It was a demo or something. I've just used the gel Armor All and left it thick. Still see em but yeah.

You can try using Nextzett Plastic Vinyl Deep Cleaner Plastik Reiniger, it is a concentrated, deep cleaning formula that removes tough and set-in grime from plastic, vinyl, and rubber surfaces. Aside from that, this formula is also capable of eliminating some scuff marks, grease, stains, and is completely safe and non-caustic making it the great choice for all of your delicate plastics.

For one, you can try using a Carpet & Upholstery Extractor from a good detailer which should remove the stain from the seat.
