OK, so I've quoted my post from page 52 ^^ which for the most part has most of the updated LED conversions with the exception of there are a few guys here that have alternatives that are also great options. This post is far more updated than the original post though.

Below is somemore detailed information on great options. Keep in mind I have not tested all the LED brands on the market and there are other options which people have gotten great results from. So don't limit yourself by any means. These are just some of the great options you will not be disappointed in.

Below I mention XenonDepot Lights as the best overall. I encourage you all that are interested to take a look at @RobP62 posts and reviews on these lights which you can find here......

So I ordered some XenonDepot XTREME HID 4300K Philips bulbs today. Excited to compare them against my Hikaris! I'll hopefully take some good pics and get a comparison up for those of you also thinking of switching or just curious to see how they compare.

As much as it pains me to say this, you get better output out of the Hikaris in the headlights due to their thinner cross section creating a more intense hotspot for further distance projection. I've tried several and they actually do they best. I’m not a fan of fans for cooling and I do question the Hikaris build quality, but overall they mimic the halogen better than others for best performance.

Even the Hikaris produce glare in the reflector fogs though, as demonstrated here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/led-lighting-conversion.436865/page-151#post-18006593

Which is why one of these options is a far better approach for a fog:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/

Excellent choice. While the Hikaris may be bright, there is no comparison to HIDs. I like that XenonDepot offers genuine German Philips bulbs, and 4300k is the best color temperature for output.

Here is how Hikaris compare to XD Philips HIDs in measured readings:
    D9BAD5F2-4248-41F5-9E77-D18F88F7A27C.jpg

They are over 2.5x brighter than the brightest LED.

Damn dude, I read the first part of your post thinking it was in reference to me saying I ordered HIDs. I was like shit! Then I saw my section you quoted...phhewwww. Almost got pissed there for a second!
Glad to see the HIDs are still have a much higher lux reading.

Haha, no, definitely not! The HIDs you ordered are going to be far brighter with better distance projection than LEDs.

I'm still running the OffRoad Town SAE projector cubes you sold me as my fog lights. They are kick ass and I love them

have you posted up pics of them at night? for $99, i'd be willing to give those a shot. I imagine I'd have to order the bracket to fit those pods in my fogs though, right?

I suppose those are the ones. I bought them directly from @crashnburn80. I have yet to get a picture of them. I have the before pictures using the OEM reflector housings and AuxBeam F16 and Hikari Phillips LED bulbs. Its been raining in Houston for like 3 weeks straight. As soon as I get a chance I will go to the same spot I took all the others and get the after shot.

Here are some pics of them installed.

Gotcha! Looking forward to the pics.

But damn, I thought those new mounting bracket things would be like 40$ish, not $100! Maybe I wont be doing that...

Yea, I don't get why some places charge so much for brackets.

    Did you look on Amazon?

Yeah I just did a quick look. Didn't see much for 3rd gens.
It would be cheaper than getting brackets and those pods lol. I was looking at the morimoto amber ones..think they were going for $170 on the preorder.

But actually I need to stop spending hundreds of dollars on lights...once you get the itch you just can't stop.

All my upgrades have paid off though. I went camping with some buddies last week and I was leading the caravan...got some compliments on how cool it looked following behind me with the light bar, fogs, and ditch lights all turned on going up the canyon!

I was like oh hell yes, finally got to flex my lights :militarypress:

Difference is those are drastically more powerful than Morimotos, easily worth the couple extra dollars IMO.

    Lux at 18ft
    Morimoto: 170
    ORTown pods: 352

And while being far brighter they have perfectly clean cut offs with zero glare.

Edit: As you know. Thought I was quoting @Technique

I have the amber Morimotos on order, as well as the amber LED KC G4s to compare to the Rigid SAE fog LED pods with amber covers. Just to be thorough for amber options. :)
