001B15C8-9934-4A10-901C-6F08A4CB43BF.jpg It’s big enough to hold my tablet so I put a couple USB ports for charging it. They’re wired to the 2nd battery. I can also fit extra sunglasses and all kinds of other crap in there.

Also rewired one of the light switches to turn on the front facing camera AKA on board spotter.

Been wanting to do something like that for a while now. Was looking at units out of late 90s/early 2000s Tahoe, Suburban, etc.

Impressive stuff. Looking back, if I still had my first gen, I would definitely try to do something like this. Like the guy stated, you can find those overhead control pieces almost anywhere for a decent price if one were to look hard enough. Pretty straightforward install too it looks like as long as someone knows how to create/find the right bracket system to accommodate.

Yup. It's been up there for about 2 years now I think.
This is probably one of my favorite mods on my truck along with my aux fuel tank, fridge and dual batteries.

The console is made by ARB. I got it from Amazon. My only complaint is the cost. The radio plus the console were about $500. If you watch Ronnie Dahl on youtube he has the same one in his Land Cruiser.

The console is designed for an FJ cruiser. The FJ's ceiling has a different curve to it than the Taco. I used a utility knife to reshape it to fit my roof. For mounting I used the existing screw holes for the mirror and map light assembly in the front and drilled some holes in the bracket for the dome light in the back. I think I used self tapping screws for the back. Or maybe it was rivnuts. I don't really remember.

Also it barely fits between the visors. You have to push the visors outward just a little bit. And you lose those little things in the visor that you can slide out to block the sun. Also you lose your review mirror. I bought a glue on one to replace it. I can rarely see out that mirror anyway. If I ever build my flatbed camper I'm going to ditch the review mirror. Oh one other thing is that I tested it for head clearance but every now and then when I'm getting into my truck I'll hit my head on it.
Edit: It's a different color than my headliner but I don't really care.

@WetTaco picked these up for me, but have to sell them as my sons 18 hour stay in the NICU is costing us $1700. :pout:Currently at @thebakers place in SF. Don’t have pictures at this moment but I know one has a small scratch on the outer lip.
