Well i guess i will throw in an update. Spent a week in El Salvador and got moved to honduras which is where i am out now. I am living in a ply wood and tin roof shack with 10 other guys and the bugs are relentless.

 

DEET! How long are you going to be in this shack?


School is finally over!

 

Yeah we got some bug lotion that is 35% deet. It will probably be around 2 weeks or so.

 

From what I understand about DEET is that you don't need more than 20-25%. Its kinda like 30 spf vs 100 spf, it's not the amount of active ingredient, but rather constant reapplication. I think DEET might only work for a couple hours at the most before you want to put more on. I use to work for the state parks and used the shit out of some DEET, and now I'm very sensitive to it. I can only use the 7% stuff if I'm putting it directly on my skin, the 25% shit burns like crazy.

 

This stuff is supposed to last 12 hours. I havent even used it yet. But from everyone who has said it burns alittle when you first put it on. We are also taking Malaria pills while we are here. Oh what fun!

 

Are they going to be moving you around a lot?

I kinda put that house on the back burner, for the moment, there are some zoning issues with it. The owner will have to get with clay county and rezone the property..Kinda upset about it, because it was unique, and custom build, and great for myself, but it wasn't meant to be.. So I am looking at a townhouse in argyle, that is bank owned, and they are giving me the run around and asking for to much...So I am still looking....But yes you have to take a the 1st left off of floyd and it dead ends into a fence, and you take that right and go down the dirt road until you can go no farther, last little house on the right...

 

You've got the right mindset. When you do find a place and decide to move in you've got an extra set of hands and truck with a 5x10 trailer here.

Are there any good trails out at Camp Blanding?

 

Nope. Most are paved or gravel, and you cant get into the hunting area unless its hunting season.

Bugs really arent that bad. The nats are the worst. I have only been bitten like once or twice by mosquitoes so its not too bad. Hunting season is over till september i think.

 

I live in Starke and Myrtle Beach. Back and forth often. I was would if there are any giid trails around Jax. Starke is in Bradford county of off 301? Any one know of any?

 

Just north of stark is Cary State Forest which is fun after alittle rain. Its got a small little water crossing area. If you go further down 301 you have lawtys which is a big mud bog where all the rednecks hang out. And than if u take 10 west, osceolla state forest is pretty good.
