HI LIFT jacks

I just picked up my HI LIFT and love it. Its already payed for itself fixing a tire on our tractor. It fits in my toolbox but i want to mount it on the box and it must be locked. I have found 2 Hi-Lift mounting plates but witch one do i need or do i need both i think one is the 4XRAC and one is LCKRAC i may be wrong but it looks like i need the first one. Do i need 2 or 3 brackets to mount on the toolbox? Guys with the jack mounted post a pic and what you used. Also need help with sliders I want them to be able to support the weight of the truck. So a weld on slider is what i want. Who has the best for the money

 

to your other questions but your sliders don't have to be weld on to support the weight of the truck they just have to be attached to the frame.

4xrac mounts...ftw. they work really well, and a lock...2 actually...can be used with them.

Here is mine mounted on the right side of my bed using the 4xrac. I do have a small lock on it.n I fabbed up some plates for the reverse side of the bed so it is mounted more securely.

 

I do. These are bolt on (or you can have them welded) and I've never seen any pics of other brands being Hi Lift tested, but I have heard stories of them failing.

Can you be more specific as to what kind of plates you fabbed and how you installed this? I want to replicate your setup on my truck. Thanks!

 

Just went to Home depot and picked up some metal 1/8" thick steel plates. I cut them to size and drilled holes through them. I then painted them and mounted them on the reverse side (inside the fender) and put washers and nuts on them. Not a hard process at all. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures but then again, it is not difficult to do.

What's the best choice when purchasing a Hi-Lift jack?
I've seen different versions online and am uncertain which one would best suite my needs.

I already have these options figured out:

- 60"

-Xtreme Duty Off-Road Recovery(I'm leaning towards this one but the shipping is pricey)
-Cast & Steel Jack

I'm curious, what size steel plates did you use what size machine screws?? Those do look good and simple!!! I like it

 

I suggest a cast jack (cast or X-treme) instead of the case/steel jack. The cast pieces are stronger than the stamped steel pieces. To me, the peace of mind is worth the few extra dollars.

As for the X-treme jack, the difference between it and the cast jack is the winch-clamp-spread attachment - the X-treme jack has a better attachment, but, the Rescue 42 Jackmate ( http://rescue42.com/jackmate/ ) is even better.

All that said, you can't go wrong with any of the choices.

 

I am glad someone bumped this thread, now i don't have to start a new one.

I have a old hi-lift that has outlasted numerous vehicles and pulled many fence posts. I have a 'new to me' gen1 4door. I am looking for an alternative place to mount the hi-lift. Primarily it will live in the bed but when the popup camper is on I would rather it live elsewhere. The camper is already going to stick out too far off the back to mount anything to it. Front bumper space will be a commodity with a hang glider rack, mt bike rack, ham radio antenna, front receiver mounted winch...etc. I am thinking about storing the foot and the running gear under the back seat and the bar and maybe the handle mounted to the sliders. Is this crazy? Why? What am i not thinking about? I have never seen anyone put it there, must be for good reason. It is going to get dirty for one. But only the bar and the handle. The running gear would stay dry and lubed until needed. I can think of few instances where one would not have access to the top of the slider when fetched up on a rock, but this could be another concern.

Alternatively it could live inside the rear bumper, but the catch 22 off needing a jack to get my hi-lift from inside my bumper is going to be embarrassing as hell.

The hood is going to be too noisy at high speeds, right?

Am i stuck in a paradigm?
