    I just talked to him. It has a spacer lift:jerkoff:. The rear axle seal is leaking. The seller wont budge on price so ill pro keep looking.

    Actually, I think that's a pretty fair price for all the upgrades. The winch alone is at least $1500 worth. If the suspension isn't a spacer lift, then that's another $1k at least (if it is, that might give me pause). Plus, it's only 168K on the clock which is pretty low mileage for a '97. It's not the deal of the century but I don't think he's unreasonable asking $6k for it. Also, a '97 is one of the more desirable years for a trail rig because it still has the J shift manual T-case. If it has the E-locker, then that's just icing on the cake.

    I know you can't expect to get out of it what you put into it, but for what John wants it for, a lot of that stuff is desirable and I'd have to factor in how much it would cost to buy all of it and install it on a stock Runner I only paid $4k for.

    Okay, spacer lift...haha, I said that would give me pause, and while a rear axle seal ain't that big a deal, if he wants top dollar, it better not have any oil leaks.

    Suspension and tires/wheels don't increase the value of a vehicle. And given the YOM, that bumper would be a hard sell around these parts and the wheels and tires I could see maybe selling for $800 max. Never ever pay more than what the value of the vehicle is listed for and never pay a premium for what someone else did to it prior to you owning it.

    9 times out of 10, I'd buy something completely stock and start my build from scratch. Will it cost more in the long run... probably, but having to un-fuck someone else's previous work (emphasis on "custom" work that would involve welding) is one of the most aggravating things I have ever put myself through.

    I agree with that mostly. Like I wouldn't pay a premium for a truck that was SAS'd unless I knew who did it. On the other hand, given my financial situation, I would pay a little more for the presence of the Warn winch, because that's not something I could afford to shell out for without saving for a long ass time. Also, if it had Kings and such, that would probably warrant some consideration. Spacer lift? No, just no.

    Exactly why I said I wouldn't pay more for an SAS'd truck unless I knew who did it. I probably wouldn't even buy it unless it was the deal of the century.

    Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?

    I built mine the driveway with basic hand tools a welder and plasma cutter. Love the Gen1, just needs more power, life just keeps getting in the way of a motor swap.
