I'm getting a shaking/bumpy feeling in the truck when I'm braking from 40-60 mph mostly. It doesn't happen all the time. Maybe certain road conditions play a factor.

What are some common things to check? Rotor or drums? Lug nuts possibly torqued to much?

    Truck has only 3,500 miles...

Rotors are likely the most common. How many miles are on the truck? If it is the rotors, you should be able to get them turned rather cheaply.

ETA: I see your mileage now. Odd with so few miles.

Sounds like rotors to me. Were you extra careful not to brake hard during the first few hundred miles? Maybe you can get it covered by a dealer if you ask nicely. How many miles were on your truck when you got it?

I'd say rotors like the other guys. Dealer should be able to shave em under warranty.

Rotors or possible pads. May be tires so at least check they are same pressure and you don’t have any unbalanced tires. Common manufacturing issues on rotors so get them turned and you’ll be golden.

My 18 had the exact same issue at the exact same mileage. Mine were the rear drums. They said they were too tight, they adjusted them and it's much better.

There's also the possibility of a warped axle. I thought that could have been my issue. I guess I'll know if it returns.

Interesting. What do you mean to tight? What did they adjust exactly?

They just replaced my driveshaft (binding), rear leaf springs (pinion angle was off), rear axles (axle flange and drum brake had excessive clearance). I'm not sure if the drums were replaced.

I'm not sure. I had two things going on. My brakes and my hood adhesive was missing. When they picked me up in the service shuttle I was expecting to go back to the dealership to pick it up and ask questions, but we actually picked my truck up at a 3rd party body shop who added the hood adhesive. I actually never got to see them, but when he set up the shuttle on the phone, I asked and he said the rear brakes were too tight, so they adjusted them. That was about a month ago. It's been smooth as butter since then.

I had my rear axle replaced, like you, as I was having similar issues. The problem did not go away; they just replaced my rear drums and resurfaced the front rotors for excessive runout. I haven't driven it enough to see if it's gone away, but the braking does feel much better.

Hood adhesive? What are you referring to for the less than average smarts people like myself.

There is adhesive that goes between the braces and the actual hood from underneath. It's easy to tell if it's not properly adhered. When you are washing the truck, instead if it feeling solid, it indents. You can also look underneath. The adhesive on mine was separated from the very beginning. They added, now it's nice and solid.

Do you have a dial indicator to check rotor runout?

Jack up the rear (both sides) and spin the wheel. There should be slight resistance; too much and you need to adjust the brake shoes.

Ultimately though at this point in the truck’s life, even if it’s an easy fix you should take it to the dealer so it’s documented in case you have issues later.

Its at the dealership now. They had it all day Saturday and need it longer. I guess they have another TRD sport next to mine and swapping out and comparing parts.

I have them looking at the rear drums, driveshaft. They also did an alignment bc it was a little from when I first got it. It has only 3,900 miles on it.

My last visit they replaced - driveshaft, rear axles and rear leaf springs.

Is shaking proportional to braking pressure? Shaking stops if you let off the brake?
Would you describe the shaking like "running over a rumble strip"?
