So I just had my 10k service and the rotors were identified as out of tolerance so they resurfaced them.

What is going on with quality control at Toyota??? also had a short list of smaller issues, wind noise, fog light out- never used them, Sat radio goes out at temps above 90 degrees, ac blower fan issues, etc. BTW there is a TSB out for the Fan blower motor

    Same here.

The funny part was when the SA noted that the rears were at 4mm but QUICKLY noted that that is what they are new and last forever. I agreed.

Stop driving the truck like you stole it.

99.9% of the time uneven pad wear on rotors (the rotors aren’t warped, its very difficult to do that on a DD) is from poor braking practices.

Did you notice a vibration when braking?

I would have certainly had them replace the rotors and not turn/resurface them - if they were determined to be 'defective'. I have been through that crap with dealerships before.

Maybe someone torqued the lug nuts with a impact tool way beyond spec

That is a possibility, when he had his tires rotated they could have went a little overboard

I’m not even sure of the torque spec, it only needs to be a little more beyond snug. Too many owners break lug nuts and strip threads.

Because your flare under your username on the left side says you have a 2012. You should fix that.

Edit: OP deleted the post above mine - he claimed braking had nothing to do with the vibration.

Brake pads heat up under hard braking. When you come to a stop and sit with the brakes on at a stop light, some of that hot pad material sticks to the rotor. Do this enough times and it ends up depositing more in some areas of the rotor than others. This leads to vibration when braking. I had this happen with my previous car, a 2014 Mazda 3, which I drove spiritedly.

So they 'identified' warped rotors? I haven't seen a shop look for things unless you complained. I hope it was done under warranty. My guess unless you drive with one foot on the gas and one on the brake, that they billed you or Toyota for unnecessary work. Unless you had a vibration in the pedal while braking, your rotors were not warped. Assuming they actually cut your rotor, they are now thinner and more susceptible to warping. Chances are unless you actually had a problem they probably did nothing more than put it on your bill.

lol of course I complained about it.... yes I had vibrations, no I don't drive the way you are "guessing", and of course Toyota paid for it as they should have. I'm not a mechanic, but I serious doubt that a persons driving habits will influence whether one has warped rotors or not, brake pad wear that's another story
