I don't think I could do that. My wife however has a new Rav4 and I will admit it is more comfy for road trips and about half the cost on gas. In my case I do need a truck pretty much weekly for random things so I couldn't switch even if I wanted to. You did keep it in the Toyota family though

 

I know, crazy right! I do love the safety sense features though! I have the same name on Rav4 world too. I've done a few small things and still have a to do list haha

 

What all did you have to take apart to wrap that in carbon fiber?

 

The bezel? A lot lol. Radio, HVAC, kick panels, speedo ect... Lots of good threads here. About 45 minutes for the first time. I can get it in about 5 minutes now after taking it apart so many times. 10mm ratchet and some screwdrivers and you're good to go!

 

do the hilux switches feel less cheaper than the tacoma one or is it going to be all plasticky and wobbly?

 

Mine felt pretty sturdy.

 

Nuno is right, Its a tight fit and definitely wont wobble. Out of everyone thats done the mod, I dont think any have switched back to the original. Most are concerned about adding the 2 illumination wires, which is really straightforward.

Life has been hectic, but I wanna thank @nazlax10 for installing my LEDs and the awesome contact and customer service. I’ve had all the parts for a year or so now and finally found time to install everything. Hilux switch, machined ring, black bezel piece and did the Bird Dawg Industries Heavy Duty Tech Deck in the process. Went with white LEDs. Very happy so far with everything. Thanks again OP for the ring. Great product and nice fit and finish.

Finally got around to installing the new switch. I changed the leds to white and like everyone else the camera makes them look yellow but they are bright white in person.

 

I think everyone is just gluing or using epoxy to keep the switch in but i wanted to do it in a way i could remove it like the old switch. I ended up disassembling the old switch and hollowing out the exterior case and trimming the front edge to use it as a sleeve for the new switch. It fit perfectly once all the trimming was done. I had to dremel the clips off the hilux switch and the old tacoma casing fit right over the hilux switch as they have the same shape only the hilux switch is slightly smaller. I glued the sleeve onto the hilux switch and also glued the ring to the switch leaving enough room between the ring and the retaining clips for a snug fit in the factory dash hole.
