Hello! Been looking at Tacoma's for a while but never needed a second truck. Well my Ram 2500 was stolen and totaled so a new truck is on the horizon! I have decided on a 2019 Off Road with the manual trans. I plan to get some mods done before I even pick the truck up. However I am having trouble finding information. I did try searching with no luck. So here goes!

    1. I have found a few companies that offer full fenders and bedside kits. Most don't state what size tires fit though. Any suggestions?

    2. I want the minimum amount of lift I can get away with, but I don't want to rub. I'm planning on 35x13.5x17. I know CMC are almost always necessary. So once I do fenders what do I need for a lift, if any?

    3. What backspacing/offset/wheel size would I need to make it all work together?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help. I will be sure to post pictures as the build progresses!

Check out my build bud. It's a lot of work and 13.5 wide is a little wide. But that's just me. Do you plan on going long travel to make it look right. I've ran 35s and now on 315s and they fit the stock fenders. You'll find most of your rubbing to be on the fenderwells/cab mount and not the fender itself.

Also regear is a must when going to that big of a tire. I hope you are aware of the cost of all this. It's not like fitting bigger tires on a full size truck. Hope my build thread helps you out.

Thanks for the advise on regearing. I will be getting that done as well, I just didn't mention it because I didn't have a question about it. It would be a dog on stock gears! Lol I wasn't planning on a long travel kit unless it's absolutely necessary. I'm from central Florida. Mostly mud and sand. I like the fenders from Advanced Fiberglass Concepts
    https://www.advfiberglass.com/products/2016-2019-toyota-tacoma-fenders
I have never installed any before though. I would assume they remove the stock fenderwell? And my thoughts were the 13.5 would fill in the extra width nicely.

Go with mcniel racing. Max powell has a few videos on his install and he shows the quality of the fenders. This is what im going with. Hes also on 35’s and regear to 5.29

good luck with all that and I'll be watching if you post about it.

welcome to TW and very wise choice on the MT. your re-gear will not at all be complete without the added torque and throttle control from the. OV Tune for MT. just a suggestion to check out.. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...anual-transmission-engine-ecu-reflash.515734/

I've never installed them either but from what I hear is some trimming is required for a good fitment. Gotcha that makes sense with the width in tires. I would suggest 529's from nitro. I have 488s and I wish I had waited for them to release the 529s. As far as making it fit without rubbing, that's a different story. Honestly its trial and error to make it fit. Bang, cut, test, redo.

So far I haven't heard anything about lifts. Are they not necessary on Tacomas? I guess I came from the world of full size trucks. If you want bigger tires with them, a lift of some sort is required...

A lift isn't required. You can make anything fit with enough cutting. But for the easiest way to fit this big a tire would be a 4-6in lift. I'm on 2 1/2in lift and I still rub at full flex. It barely scraps but with the wider tires you would definitely rub a lot.

In theory the wide fenders should help with that right? They were a 4" flare and a 2" rise

No, the inner fenders (wheel wells) have nothing to do with the actual fenders. Could run no fenders but they'll still rub the wheel wells.

I guess I'm not very knowledgeable about the fiberglass flares. Do they usually retain the fenderwell?

Talking about all this rubbing I decided to redo my cmc right now. Also attached are pics where I rub in the fender well.
