2016+ OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission 1.03 Calibration Release

This thread will serve our Manual transmission customers specifically, and will have all of the information regarding our Tune kit and ECU Reflash for the 2016+ Manual transmission 2GR FKS 3.5L Tacoma.

Our Tacoma Reflash serves two purposes:
    - Bring more power to the Truck safely.
    - Create a better drivers experience

Things that are changed in our Tune are :

    Engine :
    - Drive By Wire Throttle maps = Enhanced Throttle angle targets (base)
    - Gear Dependent Driver Demand Torque = Tailored Throttle response by gear
    - Torque Control = Finely adjusts the stock Torque request maps
    - Exhaust and Intake Valve VVT = Smoother power delivery, more power, more torque
    - Power Enrichment AF Target = Adjusted Full throttle demand AF to be target from 12.7-12.4 vs stock 11.9x - 10.0
    - Ignition timing - Ignition timing calibrated for better efficiency on higher octane fuel
    - Base D.I. Fire calculation WOT = Adjusted Base D.I. Fire calculation during high load ( smoother WOT fuel transition than stock where it just dumps rich)

    Response:

Time was taken to tailor Throttle response by gear through various torque target maps to enhance response and create an "instant response" effect on the throttle when you step on the accelerator in gear. This is matched to the base Throttle angle target vs accelerator angle map to create a much faster throttle opening rate. Video below :

    1.03 Release information -
1.03 map release will come with 3 map options, with 87 octane versions of each.
    Map options will be :
    A- Torque throttling - stock
B- Torque Throttling - Hybrid (lower gears torque changes adjusted for maximum response. higher gears stock)
C- Torque Throttling - Peak (all gears adjusted for maximum response)

    - personal notes - this really helped with what I felt was an immediate bog when engaging into 1rst gear from a stop or low speed. This also makes Rev Match downshifting a lot easier.

    Dyno day result:
Conditions for testing was okay. Dyno room was quite warm (temperature on the screen that I took the pics are not what the dyno is actually recording. Temps were around 87-90*
Dyno runs were done in 3rd gear.
Stock result was 211 at the wheels. (however the truck did not have stock wheels. I suspect this affected the result)
Tune results on the truck were less that I had expected, in comparison to the AT.
Gains on the low end were still good but not identical to what we have seen before. Gains of average of 10-15ft lbs fro 2200 rpm to 3500 rpm with top end gains being about 4-5hp.

Note - Peak ignition on these runs was only 21* advance. Not nearly what we have seen as safely possible. Temperature plans a factor here.
Ideal ignition timing we have found is around 27-28* peak advance at WOT. So we're down 6-7*. Unfortunately that was all the truck would take before knock. Not common with what we have seen on other trucks logs.
The truck did only have 1000 miles

Just some ideas to that I am considering why the truck responded less than what was expected.

    AFR on pulls were 12.7-12.4.

We plan to have the truck back on in a month when it has some more miles

    How it works-
You will need a mobile pc or tablet with 2 USB ports (or USB splitter) with windows operating system.
You load our software to your computer, and plug in the tune kit tools.
Provided in each kit is a software security module (dongle) and OBDII reflash cable.
The dongle is your LICENSE to use the software.

@OVTune , what do you have in mind WRT a release schedule, and do you see any delays porting the tune to different ECU versions?
