Yeah actually he basically did. He and his buddy alone did what Toyota and denso corporate couldn't manage with millions of dollars to mess around with and years of development to get it right. The fact that Matt is able to produce anything given Toyota/denso safegaurds on the ECU is a small miracle by itself, and the fact that it's as good as it is already is yet another. What a lot of guys on here are trying to say is don't go biting the hand that feeds when there is so much riding on it. If you read through the thread then you would know Matt literally works his ass off to develop this stuff and respond to all of us. There just isn't room to get upset about delays because without him there would be nothing but the TSB, and even at that it's probably mostly his fault Toyota felt poked in the ass to cook up the TSB, Toyota has a long history of waiting till things are REALLY broken to fix them

 

truth. the man has had our back since we had dog tunes on the MT's from 2016 and worked with us and our specific requests to gear up development and interest. then the AT's came along and became the new populist movement. excuse the political reference but that's how it's played out. the population won't change so OV will change to adapt. all credit to Mat for what he's done, but that's history now.

This was a new feature I think starting with the 18's. Older ones do not have the little speedo for CC

 

The digital display does, but the little speedometer next to the cruise light which shows what it's set to will use the incorrect value.

It's part of the TSS. But there is also a "standard" cruise control that works without the TSS active.
However, If I may speak for, @Tac0Tic0 I think he is referring to the actual digital speed that is displayed when you scroll down a few pages from the "Current economy" readout

if you're referring to using the hypertech module - yes. the digital display of the speedometer in the center cluster is updated along with the analog gauge.

the only thing that doesn't is for 18+ guys that use the TSS Cruise Control where it shows the set speed for CC.

something to take into account is that toyota must comply with the EPA and other governing bodies that OVTune does not.

honestly, there wouldn't be the complaints there are if toyota would have put a bit more effort into the throttle mapping and didn't make 5th gear so tall. plus, you guys complain so much about mpg's as it is, can you imagine the push back if you got worse mileage than your old 4.0. Atkinson has proven to save gas as Mat has stated many times regarding the full OTTO tune and the mpg loss you'd experience.

 

Thank you. I can live the "set" reading being off, as long as the live digital reading is accurate and matches the analog readout.

That's Crazy. I will now approach with cautious optimism.

 

My experience so far on the manual has been 100% positive. its well worth the wait and frustration of the delays.

 

everything comes at a cost and Otto has its benefits. i'm on 1.05 full otto 93oct. seems i'm missing maybe 1mpg but need more time to see for sure. but i'll agree that folks wanting more performance and more mileage at the same time have their heads up their asses for the most part.
