More progress on the stripes.

4 hours to do the wrap on the grill and the hood.

Repainted the front bumper installing it today then finish wrapping it.

I actually make some bushings for the auto shifter. Lemme know if interested. I have em in my turbo truck and in my friends 4runner

Thanks! I have a feeling the problem is a misfire. I'll know for sure when I scan for codes. I replaced the plugs a few months back, but not sure when the wires were replaced last and the coils are original to my knowledge.

No problem. Mine only has 185k and my bushings are almost toast. At 300k, I would expect them to be pretty much non-existent.

 

The popping in and out of gear is annoying. I was at a stoplight downtown and I unknowingly knocked my arm into the shifter, and I panicked when the truck wouldn't move since it was in Neutral. Had some angry Uber and Lyft drivers honking at me.

 

Threw my canopy on. Now I have to design a roof rack that goes over it but low profile at the same time

I haven't had a rear axle seal leak yet thank god *knocks on wood* but I thought that usually showed up around where the axle meets the drum? That looks like it might be brake fluid but of course it should be pretty easy to tell via smell or touch. Let us know what you find out

 

I got my 2nd axle Rear axle seal changed, 1st time was with 1 wheel bearing 1 zeal replacement , new shoes both sides, etc, that was $580 couple years ago. I noticed the leak last week and they honored warranty but just replaced the zeal , while being at shop some TW fellow chime in and enlighed me about changing differential breather , that should be #1 troubleshooting that leak.

Big thanks to the couple fellows that replied to the issue.

Last week visit thay only. Charge me $47 for the breather.(Obviously they will not admit they forgot this basic 1st time)

Brake fluid is actually a little low. Will remove the drum today

 

I remember a few weeks ago this topic came up. But how hard of a job is it to replace these suckers?

 

Do they cover all the way to the t case? Just ordered a set and didnt think to check on that before ordering

I'm voting axle seal as well but check your diff breather first.

Mine started leaking earlier this year. I had inner & outer seals replaced along with new bearings. I know you've got a lot of miles so might as well do bearings too if you've never replaced em before.

 

Bad bushings usually cause side to side play but can cause front to rear play also. My bushings aren't bad yet but my shifter used to pop out of gear when offroading. I adjusted the the shift linkage at the trans & that fixed my problem.

 

Get a manual instead, it's really easy to tell if you're in neutral or in gear

 

Speaking of Manual, the shifter bushing in my 5-lug is also shot.

 

Well took the drum off and it’s all wet with oil,
Oddly enough the seal does not look like it’s leaking, but I know it has to be leaking
and smells like diff oil.

Also the diff breather is stuck closed, so that’s probably why the seal went out.
Funny thing is 2 weeks ago I bought a new breather to replace my old one just for maintenance.

So the seal is blown from the pressure from a bad breather valve.

Do I fix the one seal?
or do a full bearing replacement ?
Do a full seal and bearing on both axles?
