Question for the collective wisdom: can I load a lawn tractor into the bed of my Taco using ramps that hook to the edge of the tailgate? I assume there are weight limitations to prevent bending the tailgate; I am thinking about pulling the deck and other accessories off the tractor and doing them separately to keep the weight down.

I don't think you'll have any problems if the lawn mower actually fits in the bed.

It will fit with ease. Whew.

Thanks for that. It's a used mower and I'm going to look at it tonight. My old one s**t the bed last weekend. Given the advice I've gotten here I think I'll be good to go -- if I decide to buy it.

If you want to just barrow my truck you can fold the cover back and it will fit in the bed.

I posted this in the NJ thread. Im putting it here too for those who don’t go over there (I don’t blame you :D)

Just so you know there’s another option for a replacement rear.

“Pat, I called Diamond on Tuesday to price out a Diamond with a 9.5. He said he’d work it up and email me later in the day. Said if I didn’t get and email to message him because there must’ve been a typo with the email.

I did not get said email so I contacted through the web site Tuesday evening. Still nothing Wednesday evening. I called and left a message explaining all this. Still nothing.

From our initial conversation, it was going to be $5k plus.

I ordered a Dana 60 from ECGS today. It’s based off of a 60 that they build and ship over seas to dealers to put in Hiluxs.

    Specs:

-Stock width (Tacoma) Dana 60 axle
    -3.5” axle tubes 7/16” wall
    -all new center section
    -4.88s
    -Air actuated OX locker
-Spring and shock mounts welded on
    -35 spline chromoly axles
    -All new bearings and seals

$4080 minus $1000 for sending in my broken 8.4

The 35 spline chromoly axles were a $550 option

The all new bearings and seals were a little over $400

They’re also sending me another shipping label to send my axles to them. This way, they will install the backing plates and brakes onto the new axle free of charge.

It will be a 100% bolt in HD Dana 60 for $4080 and retains the wheel speed sensors.

The Currie 9” would’ve been 6k+. The Currie comes raw, no shock mounts, no brake line tabs, needs bearings pressed, seals installed, etc.

The Currie 35 spline axles are also not Chromoly

In the end, the ECGS Dana 60 was a no brainer for me.

The 60s lowest point is 6” below center of the axle tubes. I will be loosing around an inch of clearance, but the 37s will mostly make up the difference.”
